Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another warm and lovely day today.  We did our usual laundry/grocery/pizza thing.  When we came out of the grocery store and walked over to Pizza Works some ugly clouds had rolled in and we got rained on a little bit.  After stuffing ourselves with pizza, we drove back and put all our stuff away.  Then sat outside in the warm sultriness and read for a while.  Eventually the clouds blew away revealing a pristine blue sky.  Nice the rest of the day.  Walked over to Johanne and Charlie’s and hung around for a while.  Gerald and Esther finally showed up while we were sitting there.  Greetings all around and then we went back to our site to let them get settled.  Let the fun begin!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Mike had to ship a Christmas gift to St. Louis, so we headed to the UPS shipping store in Key West to get that accomplished.  And he forgot his wallet (first time that’s happened) so I paid for it and then I drove the rest of the way, since he didn’t have his license with him.  Drove to Azur for breakfast again.  Then drove back and stopped at Charlie and Johanne’s for a while.  Back to our site and relaxed.  Happy hour tonight and then we’ll go out to eat somewhere.  Mid-80s again today.  Nice!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful day.  We just hung around most of the day.  I went for a walk.  Did some computer stuff.  In the afternoon Mike went over and tried to throw shoes.  Thought his shoulder would bother him.  That didn’t happen but his back was killing him.  Not sure if he’ll be able to play this year.  That’s major.  I started the cleaning because tomorrow we want to go into Key West.  Mid-80s today. Sat outside reading for a while but was more interested in the osprey that was flying around the lake chirping away.  On the hunt I guess.  There are a lot of active nests again this year.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Nice and sunny this morning.  Charlie stopped by on his stealthy scooter and had a cup of coffee.  After he left we headed to the Galley Grill for some breakfast.  Then on to the flea market and I bought some ginger from the “spice lady” and some produce.  Came back and walked around the lake.  Stopped at Johanne and Charlie’s site.  They had just bought a Christmas tree and were busy decorating it.  Their site is really shaping up nicely.  Back to our site and read for a while.  Not sure what we’ll do tonight.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Not a great day today.  First of all, the carpet cleaning company was supposed to be here at 9:00 a.m. to clean our carpets.  They hadn’t shown up by 9:30 so I called and cancelled.  Called Stanley Steamer and set up an appointment for December 27.  After lunch we went to the Tropic to see Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina”.  Not sure how to describe this movie.  It was part musical, part comedy, part drama, part love story, part stage play, and part tragedy. The costumes were great though.  There’s something about imperial Russia.  Mid-70s today and mostly cloudy.

This is the old Overseas Highway that spans the channel by Bahia Honda SP.  When they converted the railroad to the "highway", they couldn't use the lower bed because it was too narrow.  So, they built the road bed on top of the structure.  I sure wouldn't have wanted to drive it.  Because it was so narrow, trucks were allowed to travel only one way.  Six hours each way.  They had to line up and wait their turn.  Sounds like fun to me.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Headed up to Marathon this morning.  When we came down here on December 1 we noticed a very historic Ozark Airlines plane at the Marathon Airport.  We know someone who used to pilot one of these back in the day, so we wanted to take a picture of it.  Stopped at the Stuffed Pig for breakfast first.  A really good breakfast and two mimosas later we continued on to the airport.  They have two or three historic planes there on the tarmac or in one of the hangars.  The plane is now privately owned and still flies.  Left there and headed back—stopping at Sunshine Key RV Park to see some friends of ours from Door County, Wisconsin.  They’re down here 6 months and back in Wisconsin for 6 month—have been doing that for over 27 years.  They own a couple of restaurants we used to frequent up there.  As we drove back it was getting cloudier and cloudier.  On the way up, the water on both the bay side and ocean side was dead calm.  Now there are white caps.  Guess the front is coming through.  Mid 80s on the way up, mid-70s on the way back.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  High clouds today, but still really warm.  Went to Big Pine and got my hair trimmed.  Later in the afternoon I went over to the office to pick up our mail, but she hadn’t come yet.  Stopped over to Johanne and Charlie’s to kill some time.  They’d been working all day setting up their tiki bar and screen room.  Back to the office and still the mail hadn’t come.  Sat in the clubhouse and waited—otherwise the minute I’d left she would have shown up.  Sure enough, she showed up and I picked up our Netflix.  Back to our site and we decided to go over to Mangrove Mama’s for a couple of drinks and some shrimp.  Back home and will watch more episodes of Boardwalk Empire which we are totally hooked on.  Another beautiful day—mid-80s.  Supposed to rain tomorrow and cool down some.
