Sun, Jan 3, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Poured down rain this morning.  Decided to head to Key West and see “The Big Short” at the Tropic. A pretty decent movie about the 2008 housing crash and Wall Street greed. Theater was packed. Seems everyone had the same idea. We left the theater and the skies had cleared and the air smelled clean and fresh. Walked over to the Navy pier and sat for a while enjoying the clear air and nice breeze. There were 3 cruise ships in. Most of the people were back on the ship, so not a lot of people around. Heading back up the Keys the traffic was way better also. Things are good. Mid-80s again, but cooling down. Our neighbor, Larry, brought over some bean soup he made. Had that for dinner instead of left-over turkey. Really good.

View out our back window. Terrible picture because it focused on the dirt on our window. But you get the picture. T.he lake is like glass tonight.

Sat, jan 2, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  After morning ablutions and breakfast, I went for a walk. Mike opted out. Walked down Johnson Road and over to the Bow Channel bridge and back. Took some bags with me and picked up trash on Johnson Road. I hate it when people just hurl things out their car windows. A beautiful day again—warm with a gentle breeze. When I got back I needed another shower. Sat outside until I cooled off. Finished the book I was reading, “Pursuit of Honor” and started another one. Life is good. Mid-80s again today.

Sunset in Key West.

Fri, Jan 1, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Up pretty early this morning considering we got to bed pretty late. Mike got up for a minute and then went back to bed. Our get-together last night at Chuck and Doug’s was great. A lot of people there. At around 8:00 we all walked over to the KOA and Debbie and I were the first ones there because Craig drove us over in his golf cart and we scored a table right up front. On the dance floor right away. Others straggled in. It was pretty crowded, but not as bad as when Howie was there last week. Danced for an hour or so and had to go outside to get some fresh air. It was so hot in there. Mike got us a couple of sodas and we stood outside in the cooler air. Char was out there also. Mike and I decided to leave. He hates the band and I was ready anyway. Walked back to Chuck’s, got our truck and back home. Sat outside for a while, finished off our wine, and went in and watched CNN until well after midnight. We cooked up a turkey dinner today. Ate around 2:00. Tasted so good. Walked around the lake after that to try and walk some of it off. Pretty good start to the New Year. Warm and sultry today. Supposed to cool off by Sunday I think.

The KOA had an area set up where you could get your picture taken with wild hats and props. The group had one taken. I didn't get a copy of that one. Doug dragged me off the dance floor to get our picture taken. He is a wild and crazy guy.

Thu, Dec 31, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  New Year’s Eve and everything around here is packed—grocery stores, restaurants, Hwy. 1, and this park. Lots of traffic and lots of people. Can’t wait until the holidays are over and things get back to a semblance of normalcy. Fortunately, we’re going over to Chuck and Douglas’s place for a pre-New Year’s Eve get-together and to the KOA after for dancing and continued revelry. Fortunately, because we could walk over there. No traffic to deal with. We’ll leave our truck at Chuck’s and walk over to the KOA. Most everyone else will be walking over and back. Another beautiful day—mid-80s with a gentle tropical breeze.

Wed, Dec 30, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Ran some errands this morning and then at 1:00 went over to the clubhouse for the Lazy Lakes Trailer Trash Band practice session. Always fun. We now have a guy who plays the keyboard. He’s good. Back home and had something to eat. Relaxing the rest of the evening. 82 today. Poured this morning. But cleared off nicely.

Off to Chuck and Doug's for a pre New Year's Eve party tomorrow night. Then over to KOA and the band Haywire.

Tue, Dec 29, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Tuesdays are not fun. We have to do the laundry and grocery shopping. But, after we get that out of the way we treat ourselves to a nice lunch somewhere. We tried a new place today—Key West Creperie. Turns out it was really good. Came back and put everything away. Sat outside reading for a while. Dale and Carolyn showed up around 5:00. We invited them over for a glass or two of wine. We went through two bottles! Great to see them. Now just about everyone is back. Karen and Jim should be here soon. 85 today and the waters around here are beautiful shades of green and blue. Nice.

Mon, Dec 28, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, warm day today. I got the cleaning out of the way and got the keyboard out and played around with it for a while. After lunch I dragged my chair out into the sun and read my book for a while. Windy again today. Feels great when you’re out in the sun—not so great when in the shade. Off to the KOA tonight for happy hour. 85 and sunny today.

An iguana soaking up the sun in our site.
