Sun, Jan 17, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  High winds started this morning at around 7:00 and continued most of the day. It wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be. The sun actually peeked out a couple of times. But we were inside all day today anyway. Watched the Carolina/Seattle game which was a great one. Had pork chops, sautéed potatoes and asparagus for dinner. Mid-70s today and getting cooler.

Hemingway lived on the second floor of this apartment building on Simonton St. in Key West while waiting for his new Ford to arrive. During his stay there he worked on "A Farewell to Arms".

Sat, Jan 16, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  We actually had sunshine today. Went out for breakfast and then went on a wine run. Came back and sat outside for a while. Carolyn and Dale stopped over for a while and invited us over to their place. While there Chuck called Dale trying to put a marbles game together. So Doug and Chuck came over and we all went over to the clubhouse and played for a while. When we over at Dale and Carolyn’s the rain started and continued most of the night.. Upper 70s today.

Fri, Jan 15, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another crappy day. We talked about going out for breakfast during a break in the rain, but it started pouring again with a lot of wind, so we nixed that idea. Had some lunch and watched two more episodes of “Shameless”. Decided we’d try the show again, so I bought the tickets on line for the 4:10 show and printed our ticket—so now we’re committed. Of course just as we were leaving for Key West the skies opened up again and it poured. Made a dash for the truck and we were on our way. Got there and had to park in the Publix lot. And it’s coming down in buckets. Made a dash for the theater through a flooded parking lot. Got soaking wet and I went through some deep water and my feet were soaked. I was actually squishing as I’m walking. At least we didn’t have to wait in line for tickets—just walked in to the ticket taker. The line at the concession stand was way long, so we just headed to the theater where Revenant was playing. They were having an electrical problem in this theater (of course) and there was no lights at all. Couldn’t see a thing. And the theater was packed. We groped our way to the very first row and plopped down. So now we’re in wet clothes and the theaters are always air conditioned to the max. It took about 20 minutes for them to fix the electrical problem, but finally the previews started and eventually the movie—which of course was about some mountain men and took place in the brutal winter in the Colorado mountains. But at least it took my mind off of how cold I was. A great movie though. Mid-70s today.

Thu, Jan 14, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Drizzled rain all day today. Around lunch time I had to run an errand, so Mike drove me and after that we stopped at Pizza Works for lunch. Waited way too long to get service and left. Back home, had some lunch and then decided to go see Revenant in Key West. Drove there with images of a nice bag of popcorn. But we got there and lines were all around the building. So, back home and watched some episodes of “Shameless” on Netflix. Rained all day—sometimes heavy. Low 70s today.

Wed, Jan 13, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Awoke to rain this morning. We had a late night last night at Chuck and Doug’s and wanted to sleep in, but didn’t. Over to practice with the LL Band and then we set up for tonight’s dinner. They’re cooking meat loaf and everyone is bringing a dish. Should be fun. I’m tired –just trying to stay awake. Low 70s today and rain.

Tue, Jan 12, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Yesterday we did the laundry and grocery shopping because Mike has a dentist appointment on Tuesday (today). He wasn’t feeling so great after we got that done and he didn’t even play shoes. A nasty, cool day anyway. We relaxed inside the rest of the day. I went over to happy hour by myself. Started out walking, but Richard picked me up on Johnson Road. After happy hour we all went to Boondock’s for dinner. Chuck and Doug invited us over for dinner on Tuesday (tonight). Everyone else is heading to Key West to listen to Fionna, our uber Irish singer. Dinner with Chuck and Doug will be awesome. They’re both great cooks. Low 70s today and spitting rain off and on.

Sun, Jan 10, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Supposed to be rainy all day today. But we woke up to sunny, clear skies. We had a little squall roll through around noon, but other than that it was a pretty nice day. Our play last night at the Waterfront Theater was really good. Had dinner at the Roof Top Café and then walked around some before the show. We stopped to watch some dancers at the Cuban restaurant, Meson de Pepe. They had a salsa band playing and the dancers were really good—dancing the tango, merengue, and other fun looking, energetic dances. An ambulance came in this afternoon and hauled away our neighbor across the street. He was okay, but they wanted to do some tests. Hope he’s okay. Watched football this afternoon and three more episodes of “House of Cards”. Probably low 80s again today. Mike grilled up some hot dogs and we had potato salad along with them. Finally finished off our turkey.
