Mon, Feb 5, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Went to the Superbowl party at the clubhouse yesterday.  A bunch of us ended up playing “Jokers.”  After a couple of games I headed back to our site to watch the game.  And what an exciting game!   The Eagles quarterback is something else!  This morning I actually got up and went for donuts at the clubhouse.  I almost never go, but it’s such a beautiful day.  Came back and sat outside reading for a while until the no-seeums drove me inside. Mike is over playing shoes.  Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful week.

Sat, Feb 3, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Nothing much going on here.  Weather still not the greatest.  We did venture out to Key West to see a movie on Wednesday.  The Tropic Cinema is the only movie theater open right now.  The one in New Town still hasn’t opened since the hurricane.  Parking is the issue in Key West.  We could park at the Eco Center and then walk over, but either the weather has been bad or we haven’t felt good, or both.  So, we park at the Post Office--$20, tickets--$20, and treats--$20.  So, it’s a $60 bill for going to the movies.  But, it’s worth it.  We saw “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”  Frances McDorman played the lead.  I think you would call it a dark comedy. Temps have been hovering around the 60s and 70s—low 70s.

Denizens of The Everglades

Tue, Jan 30, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  More, windy, cool days.  Staying inside and only going out when we have to.  This is the worst winter ever down here so far.  But it could be worse.  We could be up in the northern climes with temps in the single digits.  So, I’ll quit complaining and enjoy what we have.  60s today.

Hiking the snake bight trail in the Everglades a couple of years ago.  A beautiful trail.  Wore my snake gaiters.  Saw some gators, but no snakes...although I'm sure they were there.

Sat, Jan 27, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another really windy day today.  I walked the trash over to the dumpster and was really pushed around in the wind.  I had to take something back to CVS and that’s about the only time we were outside, other than the garbage run..  Our site is a mess—chairs overturned, plant blown off the table, mat trying to blow away, despite being anchored down.  On our way to CVS we saw an AWAX plane taking off from Boca Chica.  Can’t imagine what that was like in this wind.  Today I booked our next cruise.  This time to the Western Caribbean—including the Panama Canal.  11 days.  I have until July to change my mind.  Really warm today—78.  But way too windy.

Fri, Jan 26, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Yesterday was a lost day.  We spent it inside because of the wind.  Today isn’t much better—in fact, I think the wind is worse today.  I walked the trash over.  It’s not really cold, just really strong wind.  We ran a couple of errands and came back to find one of our extra chairs had blown in the road.  Stayed inside the rest of the day.  The fifth wheel is really getting buffeted around.  Mid-70s today.

Race week is coming up...

Wed, Jan 24, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  I peeked out the bedroom window this morning and the lake was shrouded in fog.  Harbinger of another cold front?  Yesterday we went to Big Pine and did the grocery shopping.  Well, Mike did the shopping, I got my nails done.  After the nails, I asked her to wax just under my nose where these few little hairs grow.  It hurts to pluck them with tweezers.  Instead of just that little area, she waxed half my face!  It’s still sore!  Thought maybe she’d wax away some of the wrinkles, but no such luck.  Later in the evening, Carolyn knocked on our door and invited us over for an impromptu happy hour.  Tonight we’re going to the clubhouse for meatball subs.  My favorite.  A cloudy start this morning but it cleared nicely.  Not real warm though.  Probably mid-70s today.

Mon, Jan 22, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Stanley Steemer was scheduled for today—their arrival window from 8:00 to 4:00.  So, I set the alarm on my phone for 7:00 a.m. and had the laundry done by 9:15.  Mike went for donuts and after that threw shoes.  I sat around waiting for Stanley Steemer to show up.  He arrived around 1:30 and was done shortly after 2:00.  There isn’t much carpeting in here, and what there is is now clean and fresh.  Happy hour tonight at Mangrove Mama’s.  We’ll probably try and go.  It was pretty cloudy most of the day today. Mid-70s.
