Sat, May 9, 2020:  Day 49 of self-quarantine:  Started out in the 30s this morning.  Frost warnings all around.  Warmed up pretty quickly though.  Watched Netflix.  Made beef tips and gravy over mashed potatoes for dinner.  My daughter texted me that they had snow in Vermont.  Helloooo—Vermont.  She said Mother Nature is a menopausal, bi-polar bitch.  Pretty funny!  No snow here.  Low 60s today.

Fri, May 8, 2020:  Day 48 of self-quarantine:  Baked peanut putter cookies this morning.  They are so good!  Mike loves them.  Ordered another gringo dip and chips from 54th Street Grill and watched more episodes of Ozark.   Had left-over streak for dinner.  Low 60s today.  Down into the low 30s tonight!

Thu, May 7, 2020:  Day 47 of self-quarantine:  The roofer texted me first thing this morning with a quote for the roof repair.  Ruined my day.  Who texts a quote anyway? I told him to e-mail it to me. When they replaced the roof last year they ruined our gutter helmets.  Cost us $2500 to replace them.  And they only gave us $500 toward that expense.  Waiting for another quote from someone else.  Mike just wants to bite the bullet and get the thing done.  We ordered two steak dinners from 54th Street Grill.  Requested a 5:00 delivery and they showed up right on time.  Great dinners!  60s today.

Wed, May 6, 2020:  Day 46 of self-quarantine:  Waiting for the roofing guy to show up at 1:00 today.  Hadn’t showed up by 1:30 so I texted the roofing contractor and he finally showed up around 2:30.  Supposedly they’re going to fix the problem on Monday.  We’ll see if they show up.  In the meantime, I had to drive to Walmart to pick up an order.  Thought there would be curb-side pick-up, but you have to go into the store.  There was a huge line waiting to get in.  Nixed that and picked up burgers at McDonalds.  They now have a limited menu.  Sunny and nice today—but low 60s.

The German cemetery in Normandy.  I didn't know they had a German cemetery.  It was very spooky.

Tues, May 5, 2020:  Day 45 of self-quarantine:  We lost our power last night.  Not really stormy out there, but it must have been somewhere.  We lost it around 5:00 playing spades on-line.  That ended that game.  Figured it wouldn’t be out long.  Went upstairs and fixed some dinner (a bowl of cereal for me and a sandwich for Mike) and then settled in reading our books until it got too dark.  Got the flashlights out and read in bed for a while.  Schlepping around with the flashlight I was shocked to see how filthy our mirrored closet doors in the bedroom were.  For some reason the flashlight brought it out.  Decided tomorrow I would get the ladder out and clean them.  At our age we’re not supposed to be on a ladder.  But, what are you gonna do?  Anyway, today we celebrated Cinco de Mayo by ordering gringo dip and chips from the 54th Street Grill and watched three episodes of Ozark on Netflix.  A great series.  Looking forward to a hot dinner tonight.  Low 60s today.  The power didn't come back on until around 3:00 AM.

Our mirrored closed doors in the bedroom are now clean.

Sun, May 3, 2020:  Day 43 of self-quarantine:  Slept in a little this morning.  Blew off the deck.  The tree by our deck is dropping all kinds of stuff.  After cleaning up the deck I sat outside reading for a while.  There’s a lilac bush next to our deck.  And the fragrance was wonderful.  70 today.  Left-over meat loaf. And steaming up some sugar snap peas.

Fragrant lilacs.

Sat, May 2, 2020:  Day 42 of self-quarantine:  A beautiful day today.  Laura stopped by for a visit.  We sat out on the deck and kept our distance.  She helped me with a problem I was having with my phone.  Thanks Laura!  Meat loaf and corn on the cob for dinner tonight.  Upper 80s today!  Nice!
