Wed, Nov 18, 2020: The Glades RV Resort: Early this morning I got up and turned on the fireplace. Really chilly during the night. But the day dawned under a deep blue, cloudless sky. Only went for a short walk. The wind constantly picked up until we had to put the awning away. Mike had lunch out in the screen room and read his book. I stayed inside and read for a while. Really enjoying my latest espionage thriller, “The Fox” by Fredrick Forsythe. Played spades with Nomad in the afternoon. High 70s today.

Tue Nov 17, 2020:  The Glades RV Resort:  Did the grocery shopping today in LaBelle.  Also I took back the digital picture frame I bought from Walmart on-line.  They wouldn’t accept it without something to mail it back in.  Great.  Didn’t read that in their return policy.  So, came back and dug the padded envelope it was mailed in out of the garbage, cleaned it off, and will return it tomorrow.  Went for my walk right after breakfast this morning.  Didn’t see any more wildlife.  A beautiful day though—much cooler with less humidity. Had more of my fried turkey dinner for lunch today.  Still have some left.  Mike ate lunch in the screen room and nodded off for a while.  A good day for it.  81 today.

Mon, Nov 16, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Another hot and humid day today until the cooler weather prevails.  I went for my walk early.  Today I walked over to the other side of the marina where the paved road ends and unpaved road begins.  I saw a peregrine falcon fly out of the tree on my right and fly over to a group of palm trees on the other side of the marina.  Seems she has a nest up there.  Don’t know what she “caught” to feed her chicks.  Will walk up there again tomorrow.  On the way back, I saw a coral snake in the road.  (red against yellow could kill a fellow, red against black is a friend to Jack).  A small one, but they’re not very big snakes anyway.  But they’re very venomous.  They don’t have fangs like a rattle snake, but if they bite you, it’s probably over.  I didn’t have my camera with me, so after I returned I got my camera and walked back there and took a picture.  I realized the snake is dead. Then we headed to Ft. Myers to see if Mike could find the part he needs.  No luck, so we stopped at Camping World and bought a propane tank and adapter so we can use our existing grill.  While we were in that area, we stopped at Cracker Barrell and ordered two fried turkey dinners to take back with us.  That was really good.  Only ate half.  And when I looked out our back window, there was a black snake on the table that holds the grill.  Yikes!

Sun, Nov 15, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Another really warm and humid day today.  Don’t think I could live here year-round.  It’s supposed to cool off by tomorrow I think.  Walked up to the river and there was a bunch of chairs set up by the river.  Apparently there was a wedding there last night.  50 people.  And I guess they celebrated at Grumpy’s after.  Another covid spreader.  One guy that got it here after some band practice died last night.  I ran into our neighbor across the street, Mark.  He told me about the guy that died.  Told him I wasn’t surprised.  Nobody really wears a mask in here (including him).  We’ll keep doing what we’re doing—wearing a mask, washing our hands often, and keeping away from groups.  Got the laundry out of the way today.  Tomorrow we head to Ft. Myers to find some part Mike is looking for.

Sat, Nov 14, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Another warm and humid day today.  Walked up to the library and took a book to leave.  Also borrowed a Fredrick Forsyth book.  On the way back I stopped by Johanne and Charlie’s former place and talked with one of the new owners—Sandy.  She and her partner both have motor cycles.  And their friends are leasing the site next to them.  They also have motor cycles.  And the site across from them is another friend from Hendersonville, NC, my former home.  Will look forward to talking with all of them.  Last night in bed I rolled over and felt something cold and wet—one of those little frogs!  These aren’t the cute little green tree frogs.  These are sort of an off-white color and bigger.  Woke Mike and he got it out. The Dish guy saw one on the lip of our kitchen slide.  Got that one out easily too.  Don’t know how they get in. 

Our park is surrounded by cattle ranches.  Love the cows!

Fri, Nov 13, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  This morning dawned sunny with no wind.  Nice morning.  Really humid though.  I wiped everything down outside.  Then we sat out on the patio—Mike with his coffee and me with my smoothie.  Set up a pot roast with carrots and potatoes—my favorite meal—for dinner tonight. Looking forward to that.  Playing spades later with Nomad.  Mid-80s today.

Thu, Nov 12, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  A mixed bag today of clouds, rain, and wind.  Really windy.  But really warm.  Our next door neighbors, George and Pam, stopped over.  George asked if he needed a mask and we said yes please.  Another guy stopped by (asked him to wear a mask) and we were all discussing the recent Covid outbreak here in The Glades.  Not surprised.  They’ve continued to have game night, karaoke on Saturday, etc.  Also, Grumpy’s Grill is going to have a Thanksgiving dinner.  Nobody really wears a mask or keeps a distance from each other.  Guess they don’t think it’s a serious thing at all.  A bunch of people in here are quarantined right now.  Don’t really see it getting any better.
