Sun, Jan 31, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Tomorrow is Feb 1st already.  Time has gone by quickly—even though we’ve been sort of shut in most of the time.  Today is the last beautiful day for a while.  All the Harley riders took off for their last ride for a while.  Surprisingly, Mark and Deb, our neighbors across the street didn’t go.  They always go.  For the first time today I felt like everyone else is having fun, not worrying about covid, not taking precautions, and we’re pretty much staying away from just about everyone.  I’ll get over it.  At least we’re not sick.  We headed to Clewiston to pick up some scripts and picked up some lunch from Beef O-Brady’s.  Mike got wings and I got a prime rib sandwich au jus.  Delicious!  The place was packed and not a mask in sight.  I don’t get it.  Especially with that more contagious strain going around.  I bought us a couple of really good masks.  When we wear the cotton ones we now double up.  After lunch I sat outside reading for a while and Mike watched a basketball game.  The birds in the palm tree were chattering like crazy.  Now you can’t hear a thing.  Maybe they know the front is about to come through.  We’ll have to put the awning away because it’s supposed to get quite windy for the next couple of days.  80 in here today and beautiful.

Do you think it gets windy here?

Tue, Jan 26, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Another beautiful day today.  We didn’t do much.  Called the guy doing our driveway to see when he’ll be here.  Guess he hurt his back.  Not sure when he’ll be able to do it.  Put the makings for vegetable beef soup in the crock pot for dinner tonight.  Playing spades shortly with Nomad.  86 here today.

Monument Valley

Stayed at the Gouldings RV Park.  They used to film a lot of John Wayne westerns here.  The cast and crew stayed at Gouldings.  A lot of history here.

Mon, Jan 25, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  After doing the grocery shopping this morning, we bought some burgers and went down to the little park on Bridge Street in LaBelle.  Enjoyed our burgers there by the Caloosahatchee River.  Watched football most of yesterday.  It will be a great Super Bowl.  82 here today.

This park has many beautiful live oak trees.

Unfortunately, we started feeding the ibis.

This beautiful, sleek cabin cruiser came through.  It would be fun to cruise down the river--especially in this beautiful boat!

Sat, Jan 23, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Drove down to Fakahatchee SP today.  The park entrance was just off Rt. 29.  But the place we wanted to see was off Rt. 41.  The SP itself is really pretty with little lakes and streams.  All kinds of hiking trails.  We looked around there for a while and then headed to the Fakahatchee strand on Rt. 41.  Was a beautiful walk through lush vegetation, huge cypress trees and even royal palms.  I was encouraged to see most people wearing masks.  Was a beautiful day for it.  81 here today.

Somebody built this huge cairn.

This strangler fig took over this tree and killed it.  They start out as an epiphyte, but once they establish roots, they take over.

I've never seen so many huge cypress trees.

Fri, Jan 22, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Another great day today.  Sunny and breezy.  I went for my walk after lunch.  Cut it short because my back was bothering me.  After I got back we played rummy cube in the screen room.  I am now ahead!  Yay!  Hot dogs and beans for dinner tonight.  Upper 70s today.

Thu, Jan 21, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  A gorgeous day today!  I walked up to the office, which is a little over a mile.  Picked up our mail and Mike picked me up there and we drove into Clewiston to run some errands.  Picked up some lunch while we were there.  After lunch we played spades for a while.  Watched the inaugural concert last night.  I’m so glad I did.  Don’t know who produced it.  But it was really special.  So glad I watched it.  The real star in the inauguration ceremony was the poet laureate.  A young black girl who drew a standing ovation.  Her name is Amanda Gorman.  Remember her name.  She will  be a rising star.  She’s only 22.  75 today.

Wed, Jan 20, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  What a beautiful inauguration!  Good riddance to the last four years of vitriol, bullying and lies.  Even Fox News is being called out for continuing the lies and conspiracy theories of the last four years—and creating some of their own. Especially Hannity and Carlson.  I have hope for the future.  But there are still republicans in Congress saying the election was a fraud.  Give me a break!  Time to get some backbone.  I’m now having a glass of wine celebrating this new administration.

Congratulations to President Biden and Vice President Harris!
