Lazy Lakes RV Resort, Sugarloaf Key, FL: Cloudy this morning but really warm. Mike slept in. I took my shower and got dressed and didn’t even wake him. I was on the computer waiting for Mike to wake up and Gerald stopped by with Shadow. Sat outside with him for a while. After Mike got up and woke up we headed to Key West for the Arts and Crafts Show on Whitehead. Everything was all hand made. Some people are really creative. Mike went over to the Speedway and did a couple of races. Walked around for a while and then had a late lunch at Two Friends Bar down by the seaport. I had snapper Bahamian style and Mike had oysters and a sandwich. Walked around Key West Bight for a while looking at some of the mega yachts and then walked back to our truck and back home. Still 78 at 7:00. Great day!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL: A beautiful morning and Mike was feeling better so we headed to Key West and had brunch at Azur. Then Mike drove over to the Eco Center to park the truck and I walked down Fleming to meet him at the Truman Annex. Beautiful day for a walk. After meeting up with him I checked out what was playing at the Tropic Cinema and decided to go see “No Impact Man.” This documentary was about a 40-ish couple with a cute little 3-year-old living in Manhattan who decided to spend a year cutting back on their carbon footprint as much as possible. I mean we’re talking extreme—no toilet paper, no car, plane, or bus travel; no elevators; they made their own cleaning products, etc. Very extreme. While I was at the movie Mike went and did some races at the Key West Speedway. I met up with him after the show and we walked over to Mallory Square to see if our friend, Mark, was there. No sign of him. Walked up Duval and then we headed back to our parking spot and back home. Still 76 at 7:00.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL: A spectacular day. We had planned on going to Key West and spend the day, but Mike wasn’t feeling so great. So I headed to Big Pine and did the laundry and grocery shopping. The Laundromat was packed, but I met a couple there from St. Louis who are staying at the Sugarloaf Lodge until March. Back home and put everything away. Mike still not great. Grilled pork chops for dinner. Tasted pretty good. Think it hit 75 today. Beautiful.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL: Another beautiful day, but still cool. Hung around most of the morning because the RV repair guy was supposed to show up either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Since this was Wednesday, we figured that finally they’d show. Late morning Mike called them and now they’re telling us it’ll be next week (sigh). It is the Keys. So then we were trying to decide whether to head to Key West and schlep around or go see Avatar. We really had no desire to see this movie, but it won all kinds of awards at the Golden Globes and it seemed like everyone on the planet had seen it, so we decided to do that. And we were so glad we did. It was a great movie with amazing special effects and definitely one to see on the big screen. Came home and had a light dinner.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL: A beautiful, sunny day—but really cool and windy. Hung out inside most of the day. Decided to go see “Book of Eli” which started out great but ended up just so-so.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL: Awoke this morning to the keening sound of the wind. I was sure it didn’t bode well for the rest of the day. Sure enough, by 11:00 the sky was black off to the west. And it started pouring after that. Had to set the alarm (gasp) for 6:30 this morning so Mike could get to the Chevy dealer in Key West by 8:00. Turns out what caused the temporary non-shifting and belching of black smoke wasn’t anything of any import. Hasn’t done it since. And the RV repair guy didn’t make it today, so maybe tomorrow. Even though it was not the best weather outside, Mike went over for shoes. I told him he’s crazy. He said he’s tough. I could think of a lot of other adjectives that would fit much better. Decided to skip happy hour tonight.

Lazy Lakes RV Resort, Sugarloaf Key, FL: Another pretty, breezy morning with the promise of a warm and sultry day. After breakfast we went for a walk and took a bag with us to pick up trash along Johnson Road. Why is it that people wantonly toss their trash out the window of their cars? Filled the bag and I had just collected a bunch the last time I walked. Saw a couple of dead snakes in the road also. That’s why I always walk with a flash light at night around here. They’re harmless snakes, but I don’t want to step on them. Today was party day but we opted out. Decided to do the cleaning since Monday is going to be busy with the various repairs we have to get done. We also washed the walls and ceilings in here. Looks pretty good. After all that I put my sweaty body in the shower. Didn’t feel less sweaty, but at least I was clean. Sandwiches for dinner. We’re running out of left-overs. Looks like we’re going to have to pull something out of the freezer and cook.
