Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another quiet day today.  The play last night was very funny.  We ran into Jerry and Char from our park there as well. The Waterfront Theater is such a small intimate venue. Would have been fun to walk around Key West after the play, but I was so tired because I didn’t get much sleep last night.  So, as soon as the play was over we headed straight home.  We’re going over to the KOA tonight to see Howard Livingston and the MM24 band.  We’ll have dinner somewhere before we go over there.  Nice and warm today, but lots of clouds off and on.  Upper 70s today.

Got down to Key West last night just in time for a beautiful sunset.

The pretty little Waterfront Theater--was an ice warehouse back in the day.

The Westin was all decorated up.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A very quiet day today.  We’re heading to the Waterfront Theater tonight to see “Leading Ladies.”  Dinner at the Rooftop CafĂ© at 6:00 and the theater at 8:00.  Should be fun.  Didn’t go out and about today and didn’t see anyone out and about.  Everyone laying low.  Upper 70s today.

Last year at the Rooftop Cafe in Key West.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  I woke up this morning starving, so we headed out for breakfast at the Galley Grill.  Made a Walgreens run and then returned to our park and sat outside reading for a while.  There was a fire in a fifth wheel up the way from us and there were fire trucks and police cars all over the place this morning.  Luckily, the owners were away for the weekend and so the place was empty.  They’re not sure how it started.  Then, this afternoon they moved a pull-behind trailer into the empty site next to us.  The woman going in there is 95 years old and performed in vaudeville back in the day and she was popular in the Boston nightclub scene back in the 40s and 50s.  She looks like quite a character.  She owns homes in Virginia and Massachusetts but comes down here every winter. Looking forward to getting to know her.  Richard and his son went down to the Green Parrot and invited us along.  No thanks we said.  Think we’ll just lay low today.

Jerry, Char, and their son, Ben.

Wed, Dec 25:
Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Put our corn casserole in the oven at around 1:00 for the Christmas dinner at the clubhouse today.  Mike came back from Debbie and Craig’s and told me to get a glass of wine and come over there.  There’s a bunch of party animals over there that have been imbibing since 9:00 this morning!  Everyone trashed.  Decided when we go over for the dinner we’ll reserve the “drunk table” for us.  Everyone actually made it to the dinner and the imbibing continued.  I caught up to them pretty quickly.  A great dinner and party.  Upper 70s today.

This says it all...

Some of the other revelers at our table.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  We did the laundry and grocery shopping a day early this week—for obvious reasons.  Everything was slammed.  Especially the grocery store.  Can’t wait until the holidays are over with and hopefully things will quiet down.  Pizza Works for lunch and then we delivered our cookies.  Came back and watched our Netflix movie “Man on a Ledge.”  What a riveting movie!  Our friends from Oregon called to wish us a Merry Christmas and we’re trying to put together a trip to Moab, UT, with them for next summer. That would be fun!  Low 80s today.

Home in Key West all decorated for the holidays.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Beginning to sound like a broken record, but another fantastic day today.  Mike went over for donuts and I took care of the cleaning post haste.  Trying to decide whether or not to bake some cookies to give to some neighbors here or go to the Sugarloaf Bakery.  The Sugarloaf Bakery won out.  Ran up there and bought a bunch of cookies.  Then while Mike was on the computer I was outside reading and enjoying this fantastic day.  Had a hard time keeping my mind on my book.  My eyes kept drifting up to this beautiful blue sky with a lone buzzard making big effortless circles and the palm fronds swaying gracefully in the gentle breezes.  I eventually nodded off and woke up with a start as an iguana came sauntering into our site.  Off to the KOA for happy hour tonight.  I’m planning on walking over.  Then a bunch of us will go have dinner somewhere.  Another beautiful day in paradise!  Mid-80s today.

Our bikes are sitting here just waiting to be ridden.  Maybe next week.  We need to take them to Big Pine for their annual tune-up.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another mid-80s day today.  Neither one of us wanted to cook today, so we went back to Roostica and had their Sunday gravy night.  Really good.  Driving back at 6:00 it was still 80 degrees.  Wonderful, balmy night.  Came back and found a Christmas gift on our step from Debbie and Craig.  She makes these wonderful candles.  This one smells like butter cream.  Nice!

Thanks Debbie!
