Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A rainy morning today so I spent the morning on the computer taking care of some stuff.  After lunch we ventured outside and sat around reading and listening to the red winged blackbirds chattering away.  They are a noisy bunch.  Sitting with the sun on you it was warm, but when the sun went behind a cloud and the breeze picked up, it felt really cool.  At any rate, we’re heading in to the Tropic in Key West to see “Twelve Years a Slave.”  Should be good.  Then we plan on stopping at Charlie Mac’s for more of their delicious Brunswick stew.  Upper 70s today I guess.

Little side porch on a cottage in Old Town Key West.  Great place for reading a book or taking a little snooze.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Mike had to go to see his dentist this morning on Big Pine, so I went along, and after we had breakfast at the Galley Grill.  His dentist’s office is in a beautiful, lush setting of palm trees and other exotic vegetation.  He works in shorts and flip flops and brings his two dogs with him who come out and say hello to you before he begins working on you.  How neat is that!  When we got back I sat outside reading for a while.  Then we walked around the lake.  It’s quite warm again today.  Mid-80s.  Dinner tonight at the clubhouse.

Even a trip to the dentist's office can be a beautiful experience down here.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  We took care of our laundry and grocery shopping today.  And in between I saw my orthopedic surgeon and was finally released and told I’m good to go.  Went to the Stoned Crab and celebrated with cocktails and lunch.  Then back home and put everything away.  Relaxed the rest of the day.  Nothing on the agenda for tonight.  Mid-80s again today.

Indian Key

In the early 1800s Indian Key was the first county seat for Dade County.  At that time this island was the site of a lucrative salvaging business.  You can get out there by boat or kayak.  It's now a state historic site.  A great place to swim or hike.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  I walked around the lake early this morning.  The lake was so beautiful—just like glass.  Took some pictures.  When I passed Jim and Karen’s site Mike was there—guess he stopped by after donuts—so I sat and talked with them for a while.  After Mike left for shoes I sat outside and finished my latest book.  Other than that, our usual Monday.  Happy hour tonight at the KOA and then Boondocks for dinner.  Another beautiful mid-80s day.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Sitting outside reading my book and waiting for Mike to get ready for the Nascar party and Ray stopped by with Munch.  Gave Munch his treat and he was waiting for Mike to make an appearance because he knew he’d get another.  Not sure why it takes Mike so long, but he always looks really nice when he gets done.  By the time he made his appearance it was time to go.  Appetizers at 11:00, lunch at 12:00 and the race at 1:00.  We didn’t stay for the race.  I left before Mike because I had a miserable headache, which the glass of wine I imbibed didn’t help.  And it’s really hot today.  Came back and didn’t even sit outside very long.  Much nicer in the air conditioning.  And the race is now on a rain delay and probably won’t even continue until this evening.  A nice party though, hosted by Craig and Debbie who cooked up a bunch of stuff.  Probably upper 80s today—at least it feels like it.

Come on out!
Beautiful Danica Patrick.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, warm and sultry day today.  I made an appointment for1:00  in Key West to get my hair cut.  After some lunch, I told Mike I was going to walk around the lake and then down Johnson Road and to pick me up at the end of Johnson Road and we could head to Key West.  I took longer than planned because I ran into people here and there, and when I turned the corner by the clubhouse Mike was just pulling away and down Johnson Road.  He was probably wondering where the hell I was.  I finally caught up with him after he got to the end of Johnson Road and turned around and we headed out.  Got a great hair cut.  Mike picked up something at Publix for the Nascar party here at the park tomorrow and we headed back.  He dropped me at the end of Johnson Road and I walked back.  Stopped at the clubhouse and the guys were just finishing up putting pavers in.  They did a great job.  Back home and watched our Netflix movie, “Gone” which was a pretty good movie.  Tried to sit outside after that, but the no-see-ums were out in force. Mid-80s again today and beautiful.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Warm and sultry today.  Perfect day to head to the beach.  But at noon we came in to have some lunch and the men’s hockey game was on between US and Canada and we got watching that so that nixed the beach.  And the US lost (sigh).  Canadians play for the gold on Saturday.  Went to Mangrove Mama’s for a light dinner.  Mid-80s again today.
