Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Winter Solstice today.  But it was a warm and sultry day around here.  Really quiet too. Everyone hanging out inside I guess.  Carmen came over a couple of times.  We washed some windows on the outside of the fifth wheel.  That’s the only productive thing we did all day.  In the afternoon we drove into Key West and saw the movie “Interstellar” which was very long and too sci fi for me.  When we got home Debbie came over with some Christmas cookies for us.  Really good cookies.  Sat outside talking with Debbie and Carmen for a while.  Carmen just bought herself a golf cart.  This should be interesting.  She’s 95.  82 today.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  It was 80 this morning when we got up!  That’s more like it!  Went to the Galley Grill for breakfast and then came back and sat around outside reading and enjoying this warm, sultry day.  We had a great time last night at the KOA.  We thought we were going to see Howard Livingston and the MM24 Band.  Imagine our chagrin when the band, Haywire, was performing.  Howie is there next week.  Oh well, we had a good time.  Danced my brains out.  Our neighbor, Carmen (95), danced just about every dance.  She is amazing!  Steaks for dinner tonight.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Spent the morning futzing around on the computer. After lunch I finally ventured outside. Went next door to see Carmen and sat with her for a while. Back to our site and read my book. Just finished “Tales of the Mountain Men” which is a riveting account of the stalwart men who plied the rivers and streams out west in search of beaver. They were amazing!  It feels chillier than it did yesterday.  But it’s beautiful and sunny.  Going over to the KOA tonight to see Howard Livingston and the MM24 Band.  Should be fun.

Thu, Dec 18:  Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Didn’t get a very early start this morning.  Thought about going out for breakfast, but we waited too long.  Just hung out today.  After lunch we watched one of our Netflix.  After that we went for a spin on our bikes.  Not sure if I like my new seat or not.  Have to make up my mind pretty quick or they won’t take it back.  Left-over pasta for dinner.

A visitor.

Wed, Dec 17:  Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another sunny, cloudless day today.  Our friends who run a RV washing service came at 10:30 and washed the fifth wheel.  They waxed just the cap this year.  It’s now sparkling.  Put everything back where it belonged and sat outside reading for a while.  Jo stopped by to say hello with her dog, Munch.  They are leaving in January and moving to the Orlando area.  I guess they’ve lived here for 5 years or so.  At 5:30 we headed to Key West to see “Last Night at Ballyhoo” at the Red Barn Theater. This Tony award winning play takes place in 1939 Atlanta, on the eve of WWII and during the premier of “Gone With the Wind.” Ballyhoo was a sort of ball that took place in Atlanta every year back in the day.  Before the play we had dinner at the Hard Rock CafĂ© which is right next door to the theater.  And it was warm enough to dine alfresco.  As we left our parking spot around the Eco Center, we ran into a trio of twenty-somethings—two guys and a girl who had on a very short red jump suit and three-inch wedge heels.  On returning to our parking spot four hours later we ran into the same trio very inebriated.  She still looked cute in her very short red jumpsuit, but she could barely walk in those three-inch wedge heels.

The San Carlos Theater all decorated for Christmas.

Waiting for the doors to open at the Red Barn Theater.

Tue, Dec 16:  Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A beautiful, sunny day today   Not a cloud in the sky.  We decided to do the laundry and grocery shopping today because tomorrow night we’re going to see a play at the Red Barn Theater in Key West. Got that done, had lunch and were back home by 1:00.  Sat outside reading the rest of the afternoon.  Beautiful.  Went for a walk around the lake before it got too late.  A great day!

When I look up from my book, this is my view.

Mon, Dec 15:  Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  It’s actually warming up!  This morning you could feel it was much warmer.  And the wind was down.  We were actually able to sit outside in tee shirts.  Walked over to the office and got our Netflix and stopped to talk to Ted who just pulled in.  Tonight we went over to the KOA pub for happy hour.  I walked over and Mike drove over later.  Enjoyed happy hour and then a bunch of us went to Boondocks for some dinner.  It chilled down quite a bit after the sun went down.  Glad I had a jacket with me.  Mike not feeling so good this morning.  He didn’t even get up until about 11:00.  I was tiptoeing around trying not to disturb him.  But he was feeling good enough to go to happy hour.  So, all is well.  Another beautiful day in paradise.
