Sat, Dec 5, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Up this morning, made the bed, showered, dressed, and got the computer out to pay our personal property and real estate taxes and some other things since the weather was supposed to be bad again today. But then I looked out the window and saw blue sky. So, shut down the computer and headed outside. Walked around the lake and stopped to talk to our former neighbors on the other side of the lake. It was nice all day. After we walked around the lake I dragged my chair into the sun and read my book for a while. When the clouds rolled in I went back inside and finished up the computer stuff I wanted to get out of the way. If the weather stays nice we’re heading over to the KOA tonight. The band, Haywire, is playing. Low 80s today.

Partying at the KOA.

More rain...

Fri, Dec 4, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another day of rain today.  But since I’m reading a book on rain-starved countries, rain now has a new meaning.  It is an important resource—one that we take for granted. Went over to the laundry to dry out some towels in the dryer. Watched two more episodes of “Homeland”, and played some games. That’s about it. The skies look like they’re trying to clear off. Maybe the weekend will be clear and we can venture out to Key West. Upper 70s again and wet.

Rain, rain, rain...

Thu, Dec 3, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Rain, rain, rain.  Drizzled most of the day. But we sat out under our awnings and enjoyed the warm, sultry, and salt laden  air. I worked on my knitting project for a while. Then around 3:30 I went over and picked up our mail and took the trash over to the dumpster. Shortly after that it really started coming down with a lot of lightning.  Very unusual to have thunder storms down here. Needless to say, we didn’t venture out very much today. Tomorrow we’ll probably go see a movie. Upper 70s today with high humidity.

Key West Mounted Police were out yesterday.

Wed, Dec 2, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Awoke this morning to a little rain. Eventually cleared and Robin stopped by on her way around the lake with Mutley, who was looking for his treat. Gave him his treats and talked with Robin for a while. Around noon we headed to Key West to see the movie “Bridge of Spies” with Tom Hanks, playing at the Tropic. Mike thought the movie was great—me not so much. An amazing true story though. After the movie we checked out a restaurant, Two Cents, on a little lane just off Whitehead. These little lanes are the best kept secret in Key West. I love them because they’re way off the beaten path. Sat at a table in the garden and had an appetizer and a couple of drinks. They serve them with a bucket of bacon. No dinner tonight for sure. We will definitely go back there for lunch or dinner soon.

Tue, Dec 1, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful morning. It was 80 by 10:00! We got our laundry and grocery shopping chores out of the way this morning and then enjoyed a leisure lunch at the Stoned Crab. Back to our site to relax and read. Just another beautiful day down here in paradise.

Looking up from our books, we either have Australian pines...

or swaying palms.

Mon, Nov 30, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Worked some more on getting our site squared away. Mike was able to put up the bamboo screen at the back of our site to provide a wind break. Did a few other chores and then took a walk around the lake. Unfortunately, the lake seems pretty dirty again this year. It used to be really pristine. Off to the KOA tonight to imbibe with friends. Then to Geiger Key for dinner. Another beautiful day today—85 with a few puffy clouds.

Our site. Someone built those planter boxes years ago. Would like to put something in there that doesn't require any maintenance.

Unfortunately, we ended up more in the center of the site instead of more to the right. Poor Larry, we're right on top of him.

Sun, Nov 29, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Made my smoothie this morning and sat down at the computer to take care of some banking. Sandy and John came over to visit our neighbor, Larry, so we went outside to say hello. Mike had gotten a bamboo screen from our other neighbor, Jerry, and John and Larry helped Mike move it to where he wanted it to provide some protection from the wind while he’s grilling. Now we just have to attach it. The guys offered to help. We are lucky to have such great neighbors. Went to Roosticas for their Sunday gravy. Nice! 82 today!

We are definitely at the end of the road.
