Sat, Mar 11, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Well, yesterday afternoon we walked over to Char and Jerry’s, wine in hand, intending to stay only an hour or so. We ended up staying until 7:30. Too late to grill our steaks, so we just snacked for dinner. Mike started taking care of some things that need to be done before we leave here on Thursday. Mailed our last Netflix and put our account on hold until we get home. We were sitting outside reading this afternoon and a 44-ft. toy-hauler came in. It’s always interesting when they try to go around the corner at the end of our loop because one of the palm trees leans out over the road a little. He did okay though. They’re in the site across the road and next to the people directly across from us. Low 80s today with deep blue skies.

This is the curve these big rigs have to negotiate.

This is the toy hauler that just came in. It even has a back deck!

Thu, Mar 9, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  A lazy, relaxing day today. Put the awnings back out. Mike went over and picked up our Netflix in the office. He was gone a long time—stopping to talk with Karen. I finally finished the third part of the Steven King trilogy and gave it to Mike to read. All three were great reads. Char and Jerry stopped by. Enjoyed talking with them. After imbibing a lot of wine, we went our separate ways. Low 80s and breezy.

Nice moon rise.

Wed, Mar 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Wind not so bad this morning. So, we put the awnings back out, but had to put them back in a few hours later. Instead of going to the dinner at the clubhouse tonight, we decided to head to Key West and have dinner down there. Well, there were three cruise ships in, and it’s spring break. So, lots of people milling around plus a lot of 20-somethings. Undaunted, after finally finding a place to park, we stopped at the Conch Republic Seafood Co. for drinks and dinner. A really nice evening, so after dinner we walked around the wharf area for a while. All things considered, a really nice evening. Low 80s today with less wind.

This guy was headed out somewhere in his little skiff--probably out to Wisteria Island. Or maybe he has a big yacht out there somewhere?

The beautiful schooner America. Want to do a sail on her before we leave.

Tue, Mar 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  An iffy start this morning—cloudy and sprinkling off and on. Still windy. We headed to Big Pine to do the grocery shopping and I got my toes painted. Lunch after at the little deli just down from Winn Dixie. Back home and put everything away. I decided to go out and clean up our site. All kinds of stuff blown in. Looks pretty good now. Maybe tomorrow we’ll be able to put the awnings back out. Paul walked by with Ellie Mae and Braedon. We just missed them. High 70s today.

Doors of Key West.

Mon, Mar 6, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Still really windy today. We got the laundry done and then hung out inside most of the day. Mike didn’t play shoes and we didn’t go to happy hour tonight. We took pork steaks out of the freezer about three days ago, so we had to cook them tonight. Larry came over for a while and then we cooked up the steaks, along with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. After dinner it seems the wind has finally calmed down a bit. Our site is a mess, but it doesn’t make any sense to sweep it up only to have everything blow back in again. Upper 70s today.

Sun, Mar 5, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL: W I N D Y again today. Actually worse than yesterday. Hunkered down inside most of the day watching Netflix and reading—after getting our cleaning chores out of the way. We were going to grill pork steaks but it was just too windy. Had salads instead. Upper 70s today I think.

Went over to Char and Jerry's site last night to hear Jerry (on banjo) and his friend play.

Beautiful orchid.

Sat, Mar 4, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Really windy today—all day. Paul and Cyndie left around 11:00 and we went over and got Ellie Mae. Brought her inside, but she was stressed and constantly looking for her people. Kept her inside until 2:30 or so and then went over and got Braedon. Took them both for a long walk and then gave them their treats. Took them back over to their house and then we came back and had our dinner. Back around 7:00 and took them for their last walk and then returned them. We cancelled our trip out to Little Palm Island. Just way too windy. Hopefully next year. Richard stopped by to drop off the particulars for our next wine tasting. Chardonnay this time. Low 80s and really windy today.

Our two charges.

Braedon doesn't look too stressed.

These are the best dogs.
