Sun, Feb 11, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful day today.  After lunch we dusted off the bikes and went out for a ride.  Really windy which made it a hard slog going into the wind.  But it was fun and good exercise.  We biked down the closed road to the burned out bridge and back.  Last night Dale and Carolyn invited us over for an impromptu happy hour.  There were 7 of us.  A fun night.  Low 80s today.  Perfect!

Thu, Feb 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Rained a little bit this morning but then the clouds cleared away to reveal a beautiful blue sky.  We walked over to Linda’s site at around noon to celebrate the completion of her deck and the raising of her flags.  She has a flag pole with the Conch Republic flag and the Stars and Stripes.  Champagne was served even.  Later in the afternoon I walked over to Char and Jerry’s to invite them over for a drink or two.  Not home.  Walked over to Carolyn and Dale’s, but they weren’t there either.  Guess a jokers game ensued after the flag raising.  We had left by then.  I was looking forward to the opening ceremonies of the Olympics tonight, but it’s not until tomorrow, even though there are some events tonight. Low 80s again today.

Wed, Feb 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another nice day today, so we headed to Key West.  Parked at the Margaritaville parking garage and walked over to Blue Fish Red Fish for lunch.  We both had toasted BLT and shrimp sandwiches.  After stuffing ourselves we walked up to Kino’s so I could look at some sandals.  Didn’t find anything I liked so we wandered around the waterfront for a while.  The water around Key West harbor is always so beautiful—a pretty aquamarine blue.  There was a huge yacht “on the hook” out a ways and another catamaran sailboat in the marina.  The owner of the catamaran was outside washing it and said he hadn’t been in a marina for at least a week.  There were three large solar panels on the back and also a wind power thingy.  Says he can power just about anything.  Back to the park and on the way picked up a shrimp platter for the pot luck tonight.  The theme is Mardi Gras and the sponsors even decorated all the tables with beads, etc.  The food was great.  82 today and windy.

Tue, Feb 6, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Looks to be a beautiful day today.  So we ventured into Key West.  A lot of people on the streets, in restaurants, and bars, which is really good for Key West.  We parked and walked over to the Tropic to see “The Darkest Hour.”  Walked around a bit after.  Back home and invited Dale over for some wine.  Carolyn joined him after she got home.  The wind is really bad again.  Go figure, we get a warm day and the wind comes back with a vengeance.  82 today.

Mon, Feb 5, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Went to the Superbowl party at the clubhouse yesterday.  A bunch of us ended up playing “Jokers.”  After a couple of games I headed back to our site to watch the game.  And what an exciting game!   The Eagles quarterback is something else!  This morning I actually got up and went for donuts at the clubhouse.  I almost never go, but it’s such a beautiful day.  Came back and sat outside reading for a while until the no-seeums drove me inside. Mike is over playing shoes.  Looks like it’s going to be a beautiful week.

Sat, Feb 3, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Nothing much going on here.  Weather still not the greatest.  We did venture out to Key West to see a movie on Wednesday.  The Tropic Cinema is the only movie theater open right now.  The one in New Town still hasn’t opened since the hurricane.  Parking is the issue in Key West.  We could park at the Eco Center and then walk over, but either the weather has been bad or we haven’t felt good, or both.  So, we park at the Post Office--$20, tickets--$20, and treats--$20.  So, it’s a $60 bill for going to the movies.  But, it’s worth it.  We saw “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”  Frances McDorman played the lead.  I think you would call it a dark comedy. Temps have been hovering around the 60s and 70s—low 70s.

Tue, Jan 30, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  More, windy, cool days.  Staying inside and only going out when we have to.  This is the worst winter ever down here so far.  But it could be worse.  We could be up in the northern climes with temps in the single digits.  So, I’ll quit complaining and enjoy what we have.  60s today.

Hiking the snake bight trail in the Everglades a couple of years ago.  A beautiful trail.  Wore my snake gaiters.  Saw some gators, but no snakes...although I'm sure they were there.
