Tue, Aug 11, 2020:  Day 144 of self-quarantine:  Dropped off my car this morning.  Picked it back up around 1:30.  All checked out.  Now I can go to the DMV and get it registered.  Won’t that be fun.  Storms last night.  But we didn’t lose power or have any damage.  86 today.

Mon, Aug 10, 2020:  Day 143 of self-quarantine:  Plumber showed up at 8:30 this morning.  Fixed the leak and found another and fixed that.  Mike painted the inside of the cabinet and after that dried, we put everything back.  I mopped the floors and put everything away.  Played spades for a while.  94 today.

Another hike around Gilbert Lake.

Wildflowers were out in abundance.

Sun, Aug 9, 2020:  Day 142 of self-quarantine:  We bought two large containers of strawberries on our grocery order.  So, I washed and sliced them up for later consumption.  I’ll have to put some more biscuits in the oven for strawberry shortcake, sans whipped cream.  Finished my book “Whiteout” by Ken Follett.  About a deadly virus.  How apropos. Starting another—“The Guns of August” about WWI.  It rained most of the night last night.  Was great sleeping—except for the lightning and thunder and the NOAA weather radio alerting.  Flash flood warnings.  I have to take that off the list.  Nice and sunny today so far.  Playing spades with Nomad this afternoon.  80s today.

A hike we went on a while ago.

Sat, Aug 8, 2020:  Day 141 of self-quarantine:  Day started out great.  Read my book out on the deck for a while.  Watched Tiger play golf.  And then I noticed we have a leak under the kitchen sink.  Coming from the garbage disposal.  Cleaned out the cupboard and then put in a container to catch the water.  Plumber will be here Monday morning.  After golf, they televised the cornhole championships.  Really?  Are they that hard up for sports to televise?  But I couldn’t believe I actually watched the thing.  Roast pork with a honey mustard glaze, carrots, and mashed potatoes for dinner.  Low 80s today.

Fri, Aug 7, 2020:  Day 140 of self-quarantine:  Put in a grocery order.  Only needed 6 items.  Ended up with 30.  Oh well.  The larder is full.  Put my backpack on Facebook to sell.  Boom!  It sold today!  No quibbling on price.  She’s picking it up sometime after 6:00 tonight.  Very easy.  My friend, Steve, told me about Facebook Marketplace.  Nice day today.  Getting nicer.  I’m celebrating with a glass of wine.  Life is good!

Bye bye backpack.  We had three good trips.

Thu, Aug 6, 2020:  Day 139 of self-quarantine:  Tossed and turned all night.  But got up this morning and Mike got my Kelty backpack down and I cleaned it up and inventoried it.  Put it on the Internet to sell.  I think I only used the new pack three times.  And I’m selling it with everything in it—sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpacking stove, water filter, cooking utensils, and other stuff.  Hope it sells.  It’s a really good pack.  My Merrill hiking boots will probably be next.  Low 80s today I think.

Wed, Aug 5, 2020:  Day 138 of self-quarantine:  I received the Obata prints I ordered and took them to get matted and framed.  They are beautiful.  Mike went off skeet shooting and I watched one of my favorite movies—“Out of Africa” with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.  A wonderful movie—the scenery, the music, and the story.  Especially the music.  Nice day today—70s.
