Sat, Dec 5, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Felt a little chilly to me this morning, so I decided to wear the skirt I made out of an old pair of jeans.  Then went for my walk.  I’m sure people thought it was prom night or something.  Some ignorant person railed at me for wearing a mask.  Such are the days of political vitriol we live in right now.  A beautiful day.  Upper 70s.

Fri, Dec 4, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  An uneventful day.  I heard from my Canadian friend that Mayor Cates (Key West), his wife and daughter all fighting Covid in a hospital in Miami.  His wife died.  The former mayor and his daughter are still in the ICU fighting it.  People need to wake up.  70s today and cloudy.

Thu, Dec 3, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Cold again this morning.  But it warmed up nicely by lunch.  We had to make a Walgreens run in Clewiston today, so around 11:00 I started walking and Mike picked me up just short of the office.  Got my walk in.  So far I’ve seen 5 Canadians on my walks.  Guess they fly in.  Some ship their cars.  No masks.  Clewiston is home to US Sugar.  They have nice offices right on Main Street (aka Sugarland Highway).  Sugar is king in this area.  Fields and fields of sugarcane.  The only problem is when they burn it.  Sometimes we see black specs on our vehicles and RVs.  I’m sure that’s not very healthy.  But it doesn’t happen that often. Wonder why they burn it? Picked up KFC on our way home.  Haven’t had that in a long time.  Tasted pretty good.  When we got back from Clewiston, Daisy the cat came for a visit.  So, Bill and Margie are now here.  She is an amazing cat.  Just wish she wouldn’t kill things.  High 70s today.

Wed, Dec 2, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Quite cold this morning.  But our furnace is now working so we were very comfortable.  However, now the living room TV does not work.  So we had to get a Dish tech out here today.  Apparently, when removing the panel to get to the furnace, Craig had to disconnect one of the cables to the dish.  Guess he put back the wrong one.  Anyway, it’s now fixed so Mike is happy. We watched a great Netflix movie—“The Good Liar” with Helen Mirren and Ian something-or-other.  It was a much better movie than we thought it was going to be.  Upper 60s today with a clear blue sky.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin in Wisconsin.

This was his home, studio and school.

He named it Taliesin in honor of the Welsh bard whose name
 means “Shining Brow.”

Tue, Dec 1, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Chilly this morning.  But not as cold as it’s going to be tomorrow morning.  Stayed in most of the day.  Went out early and put all the chairs back on the patio.  A nice, sunny day though.  Our furnace wasn’t working again.  Craig came over and reset it—again.  Craig is a cancer survivor and has a prosthetic leg.  And he does everything around this park.  Always cheerful.  He is tough as nails that guy.  His wife, Penny, works in the office.  She is just as nice.  Thanks to Craig we’ll have heat tomorrow morning.  The fireplace doesn’t cut it when it gets really cold.  Made a big pot of goulash for dinner tonight.  We’ll be eating that for a while.  Never made it out of the 60s today.

Mon, Nov 30, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  I don’t know what got into me today.  I got up, took a quick shower, dressed and got the trash ready to take out.  Wiped everything down outside, took the trash to the road and went for my walk.  All before 8:00!  We’ve been wanting to get a more permanent screen room for our site—one with a steel frame and roof.  We could have someone build a platform for it and then bolt it down to the platform.  Then we’d never have to take it down.  While walking this morning, I went by the site that has one of these and talked with him about it.  He said he never takes it down, just anchors the thing.  Maybe next year.  Back from my walk and Mike was up.  I cleaned the bathroom and then gave myself a mani and pedi.  It was starting to look pretty ugly out there, so I went to the office to pick up our mail before the storm hit.  Just in time.  Put all the patio furniture under the overhang and hunkered down inside.  It poured down for a while.  But now the sun is out—for now anyway.  It probably hit 80 today.

Notre Dame Cathedral - Paris

I'm so glad we got to see this magnificant cathedral before the horrific fire.  It's amazing that construction started in 1163 and opened in 1345.  It'll probably be decades before it's back to it's original glory.

The beautiful spire.

The stonemasons used these marks to identify their work.

These are on the columns inside the cathedral.

Sun, Nov 29, 2020:  The Glades RV Park:  Today was one of the last nice days before the cold front comes through.  And a nice one it was.  We got the laundry out of the way early.  After lunch we sat outside reading for a while.  I finished my Forsythe book and will start a Dean Koontz book.  Haven’t read him in a while.  I walked to and from the laundry room—so got my walk in.  Played spades with Nomad before dinner.  Low 80s today.
