Started out this morning with warm clothing because Mike read in the paper that the high today was going to be 64. But it cleared off and was a spectacular day—very warm. Wished we had shorts on. But we had tee shirts on under our sweatshirts, so at least we weren’t roasting in the sun. Headed for Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. Took a side trip to Ocean Point which was a beautiful little town with beautiful views of the Atlantic and all the little islands just off the coast. Several lighthouses off the coast also. Left there and continued on to Boothbay Harbor. This was a touristy, congested, but cute town—if you like crowds. We stopped at The Lobster Deck and shared a lobster roll and then continued on. Booth bay itself is full of lobster/crab traps. The poor lobsters don’t stand a chance. Drove through East Boothbay Village and kept continuing south until we were way at the very tip of the peninsula and the little town of Newagen. Newagen is more like it. Wonderful views of the shore from the “town dock”. And right next to the town dock is a couple of cute little cottages. One has a screened-in porch in front with a couple of rocking chairs and a table and four chairs for eating/playing cards or whatever. Then their dock went out onto a big deck with a couple of Adirondack chairs and a picnic table and some pots of flowers. Beautiful view of the shore and little islands just off shore. Sat there for a while in the sun and then headed back to our great campsite. On the way back we stopped at a quieter section of Boothbay Harbor and walked around a couple of the shops. Then back home and had sweet corn, hot dogs and salad for dinner. We want to head out tomorrow early so we can see the coast at high tide.
