This thing is amazing. It has two rooms. He must stay here at times because there are a couple of chairs and an oil lamp and some tables and shelves. He's got cactus growing outside, a coconut palm, he's lined the walkway with rock. A lot of effort he has put into this place.

Boat that some Cuban refugees came over in

Sugarloaf Key: Off and running at 10:00 this morning. Stopped at the Sugarloaf Lodge for breakfast and then headed to Key West with the bikes. We biked from where Hwy 1 turns onto Roosevelt, past the beaches and down to Casa Marina—the hotel that Flagler built. On the way back we stopped and walked the nature trail that just reopened after Wilma. Wasn’t much of a trail. Biked out on the huge wharf just past the beaches. Stopped at one of the kiosks and bought some drinks and sat and watched people for a while. Continued biking back on the path along the sea wall and saw three sting rays, a shark, and some crabs. The water there is only a couple of feet deep. Followed the shark for quite a while and as soon as I got the camera out to take a picture he started heading for deeper water. Biked down to the Navy base hospital and took a picture of the really old hospital building. Must date back to the early 1800s. Then biked back to the truck and loaded up the bikes. There was a lot of F18 activity so we decided to head back to the little beach on the south end of the Naval air station on the way home to see if we could see them take off. Unfortunately, they weren’t using that runway. But I did get some pictures of the old boat the Cubans came over in and the fort/castle/house that some guy built. What a great day! Temps in the low 80s.
