Mon, 8/16/10

Wagon Trail RV Resort, Site 434), Ellison Bay, WI: This morning dawned sunny and nice with not a cloud in the sky, but a cold front moved through last night and there was a definite feeling of Fall in the air. Making it feel even cooler was a pretty stiff wind. We went to Sister Bay CafĂ© for breakfast. We thought this week would be pretty quiet—what with the kids due back in school and all—but the place was packed. Guess this is the last busy week here until after Labor Day. After breakfast we walked around Sister Bay and hit a couple of shops that were having end-of-season sales. Mike wanted to get another fleece hooded sweatshirt, but he couldn’t find anything. I ended up buying a sweatshirt. The lake at Sister Bay was a deep blue with large waves rolling in with frothy whitecaps. Decided to drive up to Gils Rock at the tip of the peninsula. There the waves were really rolling in, hitting the breakwater and sending up huge sprays of water. Drove back down the peninsula and stopped at the Water Street Gallery in Ephraim to see our favorite artist, Fred, one more time. Talked with him for quite a while and then headed back home. Had salads, steaks and sweet corn for dinner. Watched another episode of “Winds of War”. Mid-70s today.
