Friday, Dec 6, 2019:  Our neighbors, George and Pam, stopped by this morning after they played pickle ball.  After they left we had some lunch and Mike went off to Clewiston to run some errands and I went for a walk.  A long walk as it turns out.  And I biked a little also.  The new restaurant is opening tonight.  I made reservations for the six of us at 6:00—the Canadians and Mike and me.  Upper 70s again today.

Thu, Dec 5, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  Went into Ft. Myers to see a movie on Tuesday—Ford vs. Maserati. Matt Damon played Carroll Shelby.  I expected a dull movie, but I was on the edge of my seat—especially during some of the racing scenes.  A great movie. Wednesday I drove into LaBelle and got my hair cut.  Stopped at the office and picked up our mail.  Our Netflix movie was in the mail—“Green Book.”  The Canadians stopped by to show off their new (used) golf cart.  It looks brand new.  I casually mentioned they should stop by later for happy hour, thinking they probably wouldn’t.  Lo and behold they stopped by in their golf cart and we imbibed for a couple of hours.  While they were there, Fed Ex showed up and delivered our chairs for the screen room. Charlie and Johanne helped Mike unpack and put them in the screen room. How nice of them! Meat loaf for dinner, which was delicious, and we watched Green Book.  Great movie!  Now it’s Thursday morning and I’m sitting here sipping my smoothie and trying to figure out how to connect DISH to the Internet so we can stream.  Supposed to be detailed instructions on the DISH website, but I sure can’t find them. Ended up calling tech support.  They couldn’t make it happen either.  I give up.  We don’t need to stream.  Upper 70s today.

Now we have our table and chairs.

Mon, Dec 2, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  Did the laundry today so we wouldn’t have to go out early tomorrow, since it’s supposed to be rather cool.  Down into the 40s tonight!  After getting the laundry out of the way we pretty much stayed in the rest of the day.  I walked up to the river early and checked out the restaurant.  They’re supposed to open this Friday.  Charlie stopped by to check out our screen room.  That’s about it for today.  Still really windy.  Esther and Gerald’s screen room went airborne sometime today.  He was bragging last night when we were over there for happy hour how it’s not even staked down.  Ha ha.

It takes a village...

Sun, Dec 1, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  Our screen room arrived yesterday.  We waited until today to put it up.  Of course it’s the windiest day we’ve had here so far.  We started to put it up and Mark from across the street came over to help (thank god), and our next door neighbors, George and Pam came over also.  Between the five of us we got the thing up.  It’s really nice.  Has a solar panel on top which powers the led lights inside.  We have our table for the inside but are waiting on the 6 chairs.  We’re almost there.  A nice, sunny day but really windy.  Low 80s.  A front is coming through.  By Tuesday the temps will be in the 60s.  Time for a movie in Ft. Myers?

Fri, Nov 29, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  What an incredible feast we had yesterday.  The turkey was delicious and the side dishes were all good.  One woman made deviled eggs with faces on them made out of tiny little pieces of vegetables.  Very creative.  There are a lot of French Canadians in this park.  At our table I think we were the only two Americans.  Some don’t speak any English.  The guy I sat next to was fluent in English however.  He and his wife live somewhere in the Laurentian Mountains on a lake in the summer, and spend the winter down here.  Not too shabby.  After dinner Esther, Gerald, Mike and I went over to their site and Charlie and Johanne joined us for an impromptu happy hour.  Great fun.  They are busy today working on their decks.  Gerald is starting on framing up their lanai.  I went for a walk this morning before breakfast.  Great way to meet some of the people in here.  After breakfast we headed to Labelle to pick up a case of beer for Gerald who built our shed ramp.  Bought groceries while we were there.  Came back and relaxed the rest of the day.  A beautiful day again.  Low 80s.  Two of the couples on our street were getting ready to go on a motorcycle ride.  The couple across from us, Mark and Deb, each have their own bike.  She’s brave.  They told us about a couple of tiki bars we’re going to have to check out.

Me after my walk.  Don't think I'd be able to walk as far and as fast without the back brace and trekking poles.  Thank you Sandy for the back brace!

Thu, Nov 28, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  Supposed to be 86 here today.  Warmest place in the country.  Even warmer than the Keys.  We’re heading over to the activity center to have turkey dinner.  Esther and Gerald are going with us.  Mike and I were sitting here watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the carbon monoxide detector started going off.  What the heck?  Well, I was wiping up the stove and cleaning the knobs and turned on the gas without realizing it.  Yikes!  Well at least we know the detector works!

Wed, Nov 27, 2019:  The Glades, Moore Haven, FL:  A beautiful morning.  The golf course was shrouded in fog.  Up to the office to check on golf cart rentals and setting up auto pay for our rent.  Not sure we need a golf cart.  I’m afraid I wouldn’t walk as much.  We need to keep moving.  Went to Crumbs for lunch.  Mavis, the stray cat, ignored us.  Back to our site and walked over to see the Canadians.  They’re both busy building their decks, etc.  Back home and sat outside for a while reading.  Low 80s today.
