Sat, Feb 13, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Off to the flea market on Big Pine this morning and asked Dave and Amy if they wanted to join us, which they did. After roaming around for a while we split up and decided to meet at the picnic table area. We all assembled there and decided to go to Pizza Works for lunch. On the way over there Dave discovered his cell phone was missing, so we immediately turned around and headed back to the flea market. He actually found it right away under the picnic table we were sitting at. After lunch we came back and went our separate ways. I was sitting outside reading and Carolyn stopped over and we blabbed for a while. Then she went back to her site and came back with a couple of glasses of wine and Dale in tow. Then Char and Jerry came over and eventually Doug, Chuck and their two friends came over. I put some cheese and crackers together. We had like 10 people in here. Had a lot of laughs and drank a lot of wine. Needless to say, my pork roast never came to fruition. Low 70s today and sunny.

Fri, Feb 12, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Looking forward to today since we had nothing planned. But we ended up running a bunch of errands and did a load of wash. Seems like we were going all day. A beautiful day though with lots of sun and low 70s. Did manage to sit outside briefly with my latest book. Howie is playing at Boondocks tonight, but we’re just staying in and watching a movie.

A beautiful day with palms swaying in the breeze under a cerulean sky.

Thu, Feb 11, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Cold in here this morning. Turned the furnace on right away and it warmed up quickly. At least it’s sunny. We’re going with Dave and Amy to see “Hail Caesar” this afternoon. It was panned pretty badly. We’ll see. We should see a lot of activity at the Boca Chica Air Field in the next weeks. Carrier Air Wing 8 is in town—nearly 1000 sailors and at least 7 squadrons as well as several SEAL teams. Testosterone levels will be high.

Later: Saw the 2;15 show of “Hail Caesar” at the Tropic and I thought it was pretty funny. After the movie we stopped at Two Cents and had a couple of drinks and some appetizers which were really good.  Fortunately, they had all the heaters out and we were toasty warm. On the way back we were stuck in traffic for over an hour. Apparently there was an accident somewhere near Sugarloaf. Mid-60s today.

Wed, Feb 10, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  After lunch went over to play with the band. Then later in the evening we went to the chili cook-off at the clubhouse. A good night for it. Chilly and breezy again.

Visit to the ER

Tue, Feb 9, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  After our dinner last night I had to take Mike to the ER. He was dizzy, sweating profusely, nauseous and vomiting. He threw up again on the way. Had to pull over at Shark Key. Spent hours at the ER and the diagnosis was food poisoning. Today we found out that three people out of our party of 17 also got sick and threw up. Didn’t get home from the ER until 1:30 this morning. Basically just laid low today. A few people stopped by to see how he was doing. Dale stopped by with wine since there were like 4 women over there and he said they were sucking up all the oxygen. Poor guy. They have two female visitors staying with them and Dale is sleeping in a tent outside. He comes over to our place for refuge and wine. We did our usual laundry and grocery shopping in the morning. Breezy and cool today.

Mon, Feb 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Started out rather cool this morning, but it turned into a beautiful day—sunny and 65. I finished up the cleaning and then Mike went over to play shoes while I enjoyed my solitude. I was finishing up a book Larry lent me when I saw a huge motor home come through with a rather large trailer behind. The corner down here is hard to maneuver with a big rig and, sure enough, he hit the palm tree. He couldn’t back up or go forward without damaging his motor home. So he got out one of those git-along or pull-along thingys and pulled the palm tree away enough to back it out. They backed it all the way back out. Pretty impressive I thought. Over for happy hour tonight and then somewhere for dinner.

Big rigs have to be careful on this corner down here. The one palm kind of angles out and they get into trouble if they're not looking up. Hope they don't have to cut down that beautiful palm.
View from our back window. Our resident pelican is back.

The lake is especially pretty today with cloudy reflections.

Sun, Feb 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Stormed last night and was quite chilly and very windy. We went in to Key West to see “Finest Hours”, the movie about the amazing Coast Guard rescue when an oil tanker was broken in half in a winter storm off the coast of Massachusetts in 1951. Came back and went to the Super Bowl party at the club house. Martin cooked up some ribs and everyone brought a dish. We left after dinner and came back home to watch the game. I’m rooting for Carolina. Mike is rooting for Denver. At least one of us will be happy.
