Fri, Dec 9, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Windy and cool this morning.  Made a run into Key West and then just hunkered down inside all day.  Watched a couple of movies and took care of some stuff on the computer.  Pasta for dinner tonight.

Mike spotted this guy leisurely swimming across the lake today.  I've only seen them in the lake in escape mode.  This was like a pleasure swim or something.

Thu, Dec 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  I was up early again this morning.  Had already showered, dressed and eaten breakfast before Mike got up.  It’s usually the other way around.  Larry was up before me and already working on painting the framework of his RV.  Had to crawl way under there.  Said he scared up a scorpion.  Didn’t know they were around down here.  Suzette stopped by with Sampson who got his treats and then I was off to Key West to get my nails done and then back to Big Pine to get my hair cut.  Got all that accomplished and was back home by 1:00.  After lunch I tried to take a nap because I couldn’t sleep last night.  All that did was to make me feel worse than ever.  Off for an early dinner at Kiki’s.  Another beautiful, warm, sultry day.  82 here today.

This beautiful home was once home to the Commandant of the hospital facility in Truman Annex.  It's now a private residence.

Wed, Dec 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Another warm and sultry day today.  Not a breath of air.  The lake is like glass.  I got up, showered, dressed, and went out and got the paper.  Perused it and took it over to Larry.  When Mike got up he wasn’t feeling great.  Has a tooth bothering him.  So, we called our dentist here, but he couldn’t see him until next week.  They suggested Island Dental which we called and got an appointment for 12:45.  He needs a root canal.  Prescribed an antibiotic and told him to call an endodontist which he recommended.  Can’t get in to see him until January 17 since he’s only here one day a week—on Tuesday.  Hopefully he’ll be okay until then.  After we left Island Dental we headed to Big Pine to get the prescription filled.  Working our way up the Keys, the water on both the Bay side and Ocean side was like glass.  Had some lunch at the Galley Grill and then headed home.  Tried to sit outside for a while and read my book, but the no-seeums drove me inside.  85 today and sultry. Love it!

Our lake is like a big mirror.

Tue, Dec 6, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Really warm and sultry today.  I LOVE warm and sultry.  I was looking forward to receiving our first newspaper this morning (Key West Citizen), but because of some snafu it went to the wrong site.  Larry and I walked down and retrieved it.  While I have no interest in reading the paper in St. Louis, I love reading the one here.  They have a little section entitled “This Day in History” which lists certain things that happened on that day.  There’s also a daily diary entry from a gentleman named Hackley who lived in Key West in the mid-1800s.  He’s now up to the year 1855. I believe he was a lawyer or something.  Around noon we headed to Key West to do the grocery shopping.  Then had lunch at Big John’s Pizza.  Back home, and after putting everything away, tried to sit outside for a while, but the no-seeums drove me inside. 85 today and gorgeous!

While sitting outside this morning, this guy scampered through our site.  Some people hate them.  I love them.  Some people kill them.  That I really hate.  They kill them because they eat their flowers.  Give me a break!

This one was hanging out in the mangroves behind Larry's site.

Mon, Dec 5, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Another nice morning.  Did the laundry here at the park and finished up some maintenance chores.  Then relaxed outside reading for a while.  After lunch we watched our Netflix, “Shameless” season 6.  We only watched one episode and then got ready for happy hour.  Around 4:00 I walked over and Mike followed in the truck shortly thereafter.  Kiki’s Sandbar for dinner after.  Came home after dinner and sat outside for a while—such a beautiful evening.  83 today.

On my walk over to the KOA, I spotted this white ibis hunting in the flats.

Sun, Dec 4, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  A nice morning this morning.  We got the ladder out and put the lights on our palm tree.  The timer is not working however.  Drove to Key West to see the movie, “Hacksaw Ridge”.  An amazing true story of a true hero—the only conscientious objector that received the Congressional Medal of Honor.  A very graphic movie.  On the way back to the truck we stopped at the Green Parrot to see if our fellow Lazy Lakers were in there.  No one there, so we headed back home.  Sat outside with a cocktail for a while and our neighbors, Jerry and Char, stopped by.  Cracked a bottle of white for them and then Eric and Suzette stopped by with their cute little dog, Samson.  After about an hour we all headed our separate ways for some dinner.  83 today and breezy.  Left-over pork chops again for dinner.  Larry made a cherry pie and gave us half.  What a great neighbor!  As soon as I finish this, I’m going to cut a piece.

Our site looks even brighter through the lens of my new camera.

Truman Annex cottage.

Beautiful orchid.

We got to visit this beautiful home in Truman Annex.
Our palm is all lit up

Sat, Dec 3, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Sunny and nice this morning.  We made our first foray into Old Town Key West today.  Wanted to check out the Eco Center area where we usually park, because Craig told us they’re building a huge waterfront park there and it’s all torn up.  We can still park there—just not in our usual place.  Had lunch at the Garbo CafĂ© which was touted on the show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”.  Had a great burger.  A cruise ship was in, so lots of people schlepping around.  Back home and stopped at the office and picked up my new camera, which came just in time since my old one died.  82 today and really breezy.  Left-over pork chops for dinner.

First pictures with my new camera.

Should have used the flash on this one.  Have the keyboard set up in front of the fireplace.
