Ft. Vancouver

Portland/Fairview RV Park, Portland, OR:  Took the I205 bridge over to Vancouver, WA, this morning.  Our objective was Fort Vancouver.  The fort was originally established by the British Hudson’s Bay Company as a fur trading post.  In the 1840s it became a military post.  The military post was quite good duty back in that day.  Officer’s Row is a beautiful row of stately homes lining the area opposite the Parade Ground.  The homes are huge and sit on a couple of acres each.  We had lunch on the porch of the Ulysses S. Grant house which was built in 1850.  A really good lunch it was too!   We went back on Interstate 5 and then relaxed the rest of the day.
