Wed, Jan 20, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  I ordered a Zydeco washboard a couple of weeks ago and it came in the mail today. It came directly from some guy in Louisiana. Amazing packaging. It was bolted to the carton it came in so it wouldn’t move around in there. Can’t wait to play it with the band today. After messing around with the band we’ll have our pot luck dinner—more eating and drinking. No wonder I can’t seem to lose weight. We have some really good left-overs here from our pork chop dinner which we’ll enjoy over the weekend. Mostly cloudy, cool, and breezy today.

Finally finished the knitting project I was working on--a little hooded sweater.

Tue, Jan 19, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Our attorney and his wife are in town. We met them at Azur for breakfast. Met them at 11:00 and we ate and hung around talking until after 3:30. After we parted company Mike and I went over to the Tropic to see if anything was playing around 4:00. The movie, “Joy” started at 4:25, so we went to see that. Great movie based on a true story I guess. After the movie we started walking back to the Eco Center where the truck was parked. It didn’t seem as cold to me somehow as we’re walking around, so I wanted to go over to McConnell’s Pub on Duval to see Fiona and some of the other Lazy Lakes people. Picked up the truck and found a place to park on Virginia which is only about 4 blocks from McConnell’s. Got there, had something to eat and talked with Fiona a little while she was setting up. Jerry will be accompanying her on the banjo, and there was also a guy performing with her who plays the Irish drum. The place was really slammed. We were lucky to even get a table. We had a blast. Well, I did. Not sure about Mike. There were a bunch of people there from Venture Out with their “ugly sticks”. These things are made out of a mop or broom handle cut to about 4 feet. An old rubber boot is attached to the bottom and a cymbal attached at the very top. At other points along the length of the shaft, bottle caps, felt tins and other noise makers are nailed into the shaft. They then stomp them on the floor to the beat of the music and whack the cymbal and other noise makers with a stick. There must have been 10 or more of them there last night. Mike is not a fan of the “ugly sticks”. We left around 10:30 and trundled on home. Only in the 60s today and windy.

Moon over Lazy Lakes.
