Wagon Trail RV Resort, Ellison Bay, WI, to KOA, LaSalle-Peru, IL: Left Door County this morning at 8:40 a.m.—earlier than we thought. Lynn and Dee came over to say good bye and gave us a bottle of wine. Told us they’d e-mail us when they got back home to Texas. Hope they do. The leaves are already starting to turn up here. It’s beautiful here in the Fall. I drove until about 20 miles north of Milwaukee and finally stopped around 12:30 to refuel. We thought we’d hit plenty of restaurants and truck stops on Interstate 43, but we encountered no rest areas, no restaurants, and no truck stops. So we fueled up at a Citgo station, picked up a couple of sandwiches from their cooler (yum), and ate in the truck. Mike took over driving. We pulled into the KOA at LaSalle-Peru at 3:45 amid lots of lightning and were set up by 4:00. Thankfully, the storm didn’t really start in earnest, so Mike was able to get everything set up outside without getting wet. Just sandwiches for dinner. We’re running out of food. Relaxed and watched another episode of War and Remembrance. Think it was 93 or so when we pulled in here. Needless to say, we have the AC on.

Wagon Trail RV Resort, Ellison Bay, WI: Felt warmer this morning than yesterday morning. Went to the Viking Grill one last time for breakfast. Then headed over towards Bailey’s Harbor to the farm market there and bought some stuff. Back home and debated whether or not to go for one last hike. The two ladies next to us invited us over tomorrow night for a fire and some wine. Told them we were leaving tomorrow morning. We had fun with them when they came over to our site for a fire and some drinks. They have some great stories about their life as career Army nurses. Started putting some stuff away. Would like to leave early tomorrow.

Wagon Trail RV Resort, Ellison Bay, WI: We got a call late last night from our neighbor who kinda watches our place while we’re gone. They’re completely repaving the roads, driveways and parking lots in our complex. He called to tell us they want the garage doors open at least 3 feet while they scrape up the old paving. Mike didn’t feel too good about leaving our garage door open while we’re not there, so we’re heading back early. Only 4 days early though. We’re leaving Friday morning so we’ll be home by Saturday afternoon. They start prep work on Monday morning. I’m ready to go home anyway. Had left-overs for dinner tonight and watched three more episodes of The Sopranos.
