Iguana in our campsite

Sugarloaf Key: Another beautiful day. We went out to breakfast at Captain Crossbones and then headed to the flea market on Big Pine Key. Bought some more books, a cheese knife, some tomatoes, and I got some tees and a cute knit top. Came back and relaxed the rest of the day. Mike watched the Missouri/Illinois basketball game (yawn) and I watched a movie in the bedroom.

Our campsite

Sugarloaf Key: Didn’t do much today. Went for a walk this morning. Couldn’t sleep last night and I ended up taking a couple of Tylenol PM which always leaves me wasted the next day. So we just hung out. We were going to go to the pig roast at Boondocks but it started raining in the afternoon. Did some computer stuff. Played Jokers over at the clubhouse with a bunch of people.

Only in the Keys...

Sugarloaf Key: Went for a walk this morning. Then drove to Summerlin Key and bought a pretty bougainvillea for our site. Hung out and read for a while. An iguana came by. Hope he doesn’t eat my new plant. I took a picture last night of our favorite Christmas decoration in the Keys. It’s on Harris Channel and these three houses each have about a 15 foot “HO” on their house. So, as you come near and cross Harris Channel you see this “HO HO HO”. The picture didn’t come out that great. But, only in the Keys.

We decorated the palm tree in our campsite

Sugarloaf Key: This morning we headed out to do the laundry and grocery shopping. After that lovely chore was done we went to Pizza Works for their lunch special—2 pieces of pizza and a drink for $5. And they have great pizza. Back home and put everything away. We bought some Christmas lights and decorated the palm tree in our site. Isn’t that special. Went to dinner at Bobalu’s Southern CafĂ© on Big Coppit Key. While we were having dinner on the outside patio we hear this big crash. Turns out a car was turning into Bobalu’s parking lot and a guy on a motor cycle hit him. We all went outside and he was lying in the street. No helmet. He was moving his legs okay but his head wasn’t in good shape at all. The car he hit was pretty demolished—not to mention the bike. We finished dinner and left and of course the traffic is tied up in both lanes and there are emergency vehicles all over. Then about 1/8 mile north of the accident there was another two-car accident and while we were standing there in the parking lot watching the tow trucks there was a third—three cars this time. What a mess! They were rerouting traffic through Bobalu’s parking lot. Then this fire truck shows up all decorated with Christmas lights with a guy dressed as Santa on top and playing Christmas music. It was pretty weird. Finally, we were able to get out of there. Hope the poor biker is ok.

Sugarloaf Key: Warmed up to 73 today. Still breezy. Walked around the lake and up to Rt. 1 and back. Stopped to talk to some people in the office and then back to our campsite. Sat outside in the sun and read for a while. Planning to go to the game room tonight and play a game called “Jokers” with some people. Never played before, so we’ll be learning. Also found a couple that likes to play Spades. Life is good.

Sugarloaf Key: A beautiful day, but only in the 60s and very windy. Stayed in most of the day. Washed walls and did some other cleaning chores. Mike cleaned the outside front of the camper. In the afternoon we headed in to Key West and saw “I am Legend” with Will Smith. Good movie. Intense.

I was up really early this morning. Mike slept in for a change. Did a lot of work on the computer. Then our friend from Maine, Lance, stopped by for a couple of hours. A nasty day—wind and rain. Had an early dinner. Baked pork chops, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable. Then while working on the computer later that day I broke the mouse, so we drove into Key West and bought another one. When we came back we were greeted by another friend who was here last year. They sold their home and are full time RV’ers now. They’re here for 4 months. It may have been a nasty day today, but it was still in the 70s and we were in shorts all day. YES!
