Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Beautiful and sunny today!  Drove into Key West and had breakfast at Azur then walked around Key West for a while.  Only one cruise ship in today.  The other day when we drove in when two cruise ships were docked we were dodging people on bikes, scooters, skate boards, on foot, and even on horseback.  A Key West mounted policeman was training a couple of recruits.  Those horses must be well trained.  Today was pretty mild by comparison.  Back to our park and our Canadian friends  Charlie and Johanne had just pulled in.  Talked with them for a while and then left them alone so they could get set up.  Haven’t seen them in two years.  This year all four Canadians will be down here. Really humid today.  Had the AC on for a while.  Low 80s today but felt warmer.

This guy had this basset hound on Duval Street all decked out in her Christmas outfit.   Poor thing sits there all day in the heat and humidity in this outfit--and she's pregnant!  He has a sign requesting $4 for a picture.  What?  Took one anyway.  Mike gave him $1.  I'd say that's taking advantage of this poor dog.  He says they do it all the time.  

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another cloudy and misty day today.  Drove to Big Pine and took care of the laundry and grocery shopping we were supposed to do yesterday.  Had lunch at Pizza Works and drove back home.  Put everything away.  Ray and his dog Munch and then Richard stopped by.  The lake was like glass today.  No wind at all.  Of course the lack of wind brought out the no-seeums in force.  Tried to sit outside and read but they drove me back inside.  79 today.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Cloudy all day today.  Didn’t matter because we had planned to do the laundry and grocery shopping anyway.  However, that didn’t work out because the laundry is now closed on Wednesday.  So we said to hell with it and went back home.  We’ll now do it on Thursday.  The salon where I got my hair cut is now closed also.  I figured that would happen since they now live in Marathon.  Spitted a misty rain off and on.  We watched three episodes of “Boardwalk Empire”.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, warm morning.  But clouds started rolling in and it would sprinkle off and on.  We decided to go into Key West since we had to pick up a couple of things.  Roosevelt Ave. is being widened, so it’s one way going in and you have to take Flagler out.  Inconvenient, but not too bad.  We got some of the stuff we needed and then decided to go see a movie at the Tropic.  Lots of people and traffic in town because there were two cruise ships in.  Saw “Seven Psychopaths” which is a dark comedy about some guys who kidnap rich people’s dogs, keep them a few days, then collect the reward when they return the dog, claiming to have found it.  Unfortunately they kidnap a dog that belongs to a mob boss and things get ugly.  Good concept, and there were a lot of good actors in it, but it was really bad.  Mike fell asleep and started snoring (sigh).  Back home and sat outside reading for a while.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, sunny and warm day today.  Went to the Galley Grill for the first time for breakfast this morning. Then came back and sat outside for hours reading until clouds rolled in and we had a little shower.  After the little front rolled through I walked over to the office to pick up our Netflix.  The first two or three episodes of the second season of Boardwalk Empire.  Can’t wait to see it.  Happy hour tonight so it will probably be later tonight or tomorrow.  Low 80s today.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Woke up this morning feeling the tropical warmth—for the first time since we left.  Definitely a shorts and tee shirt day.  Showered and dressed before Mike woke up.  Sat outside enjoying the warm tropical breezes.  Had a lot of angst trying to get our TVs set up.  I thought getting into our site was going to be the worst part of our day.  But it was nothing compared to the TV debacle. When we got here they gave us these little boxes to hook up to our TVs in order to get cable.  Mike got the one in the living area going last night, but not the one in the bedroom.  Drove ourselves crazy.  This morning he went over to the office and got another box—and it worked!  Finally!  A few friends stopped by.  We walked around the lake and then stopped to see another couple who have lived here for a few years. Our first day here was beautiful—blue sky and warm breezes.

W. P. Franklin Park, Ft. Myers, FL, to Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Left Ft. Myers this morning at 8:15.  Headed east on Rt. 78 (River Drive) past all the beautiful estates in this area.  Huge homes sitting on lots of acreage and all enclosed in elaborate fencing and electronic gates.  Took Rt. 29 south and picked up I75 east along Alligator Alley.  Cut off on Rt. 27 and saw a Marathon station with an actual restaurant.  Stopped there and fueled up and ate some lunch.  So glad we didn't have to stop on the service plaza on the Florida Turnpike.  Took the turnpike to where it ends on Rt. 1 and took that through the Keys.  Arrived here at the park by about 3:00 and didn’t get set up until 5:00.  Mike still has more to do and he hurt his shoulder again (sigh).  Going somewhere for a drink or two shortly.  For better or worse, we’re here for 3 and a half months or so. We’re pooped.
