Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Headed up to Marathon this morning.  When we came down here on December 1 we noticed a very historic Ozark Airlines plane at the Marathon Airport.  We know someone who used to pilot one of these back in the day, so we wanted to take a picture of it.  Stopped at the Stuffed Pig for breakfast first.  A really good breakfast and two mimosas later we continued on to the airport.  They have two or three historic planes there on the tarmac or in one of the hangars.  The plane is now privately owned and still flies.  Left there and headed back—stopping at Sunshine Key RV Park to see some friends of ours from Door County, Wisconsin.  They’re down here 6 months and back in Wisconsin for 6 month—have been doing that for over 27 years.  They own a couple of restaurants we used to frequent up there.  As we drove back it was getting cloudier and cloudier.  On the way up, the water on both the bay side and ocean side was dead calm.  Now there are white caps.  Guess the front is coming through.  Mid 80s on the way up, mid-70s on the way back.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  High clouds today, but still really warm.  Went to Big Pine and got my hair trimmed.  Later in the afternoon I went over to the office to pick up our mail, but she hadn’t come yet.  Stopped over to Johanne and Charlie’s to kill some time.  They’d been working all day setting up their tiki bar and screen room.  Back to the office and still the mail hadn’t come.  Sat in the clubhouse and waited—otherwise the minute I’d left she would have shown up.  Sure enough, she showed up and I picked up our Netflix.  Back to our site and we decided to go over to Mangrove Mama’s for a couple of drinks and some shrimp.  Back home and will watch more episodes of Boardwalk Empire which we are totally hooked on.  Another beautiful day—mid-80s.  Supposed to rain tomorrow and cool down some.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, Fl:  Another really warm and humid day today.  Tuesday is now our designated laundry and grocery shopping day. So we took care of that and had lunch at Pizza Works.  On the way out of the park this morning we saw a really pretty snake.  It was about 3 feet long and a pretty copper color.  A harmless mangrove snake.  Hope nobody hurts him.  Mike disappeared into the air conditioned comfort of our fifth wheel and I sat outside for about three hours reading and luxuriating in this warm sultry day.  Walked over to check on our mail and stopped briefly at Johanne and Charlie’s.  They were busy setting up their outside room, tiki bar, and other stuff.  There’s supposedly a cold front coming through by the weekend.  Hope it doesn’t cool off too much.  Loving it!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another warm and humid day.  Mike had a dentist appointment on Big Pine Key and I cranked up the AC and did the cleaning.  After lunch I sat outside reading but had a hard time staying awake.  Mike showed up shortly after 2:00.  We hung around for a while and then went over to the KOA for happy hour.  After happy hour we went over to Mangrove Mama’s with Charlie and Johanne for something to eat.  Fun time.  More and more of our friends are showing up. Almost everyone is here now.  Mid 80s today with high humidity.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A beautiful, warm, mostly sunny day today.  Walked around the lake after breakfast.  Stopped to see Johanne and Charlie—who were busy making stairs into their fifth wheel so Maple, their aging lab, could get up and down.  I continued on down Johnson Road.  Love walking here because of the wonderful smells emanating from the vegetation along this road.  Came back and needed another shower.  I was drenched.  Decided to go into Key West and see another movie—“Killing Them Softly” with Brad Pitt and Gandolfini among others.  Not very good though.  Watched three more episodes of “Boardwalk Empire” last night which was very good.  83 today with high humidity.  Loving it!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A rather rainy and dreary morning.  I got up early (before 7:00!!!), took some Excedrin for my sinus headache and then got on the computer.  Did a backup and some other maintenance stuff.  While waiting for Mikey to get up I set up a vegetable beef soup in the slow cooker.  That’s going to taste really good with the homemade bread my sister gave us. After Mike got up I took my shower and got dressed.  Mike trimmed the palm tree in our site.  Now we have to see if our lights are still working.  While we were sitting outside yesterday we heard a big bang and a bunch of feathers flew around.  Looked and couldn’t find an injured bird, but a little later Mike discovered a mourning dove “legs up” under our picnic table.  Don’t know what possessed him to fly into the side of our fifth wheel.  Mike gave him a burial in the dumpster.  It finally cleared sort of and turned into a pretty nice day.  Warm and sultry.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Beautiful and sunny today!  Drove into Key West and had breakfast at Azur then walked around Key West for a while.  Only one cruise ship in today.  The other day when we drove in when two cruise ships were docked we were dodging people on bikes, scooters, skate boards, on foot, and even on horseback.  A Key West mounted policeman was training a couple of recruits.  Those horses must be well trained.  Today was pretty mild by comparison.  Back to our park and our Canadian friends  Charlie and Johanne had just pulled in.  Talked with them for a while and then left them alone so they could get set up.  Haven’t seen them in two years.  This year all four Canadians will be down here. Really humid today.  Had the AC on for a while.  Low 80s today but felt warmer.

This guy had this basset hound on Duval Street all decked out in her Christmas outfit.   Poor thing sits there all day in the heat and humidity in this outfit--and she's pregnant!  He has a sign requesting $4 for a picture.  What?  Took one anyway.  Mike gave him $1.  I'd say that's taking advantage of this poor dog.  He says they do it all the time.
