Fri, Jan 29, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Chilly this morning. I drank my smoothie next door with Larry and Sandy and John who were visiting also. Left to drive to Big Pine and have Douglas cut my hair. He did a great job as usual. Back home and invited Dale and Carolyn over this evening to share some wine and see our pictures. A fun evening.

Thu, Jan 28, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Started out in shorts and a tee shirt this morning. Rained off and on, so no walk today. Decided to go see Star Wars. By then it had cooled down, so we had to put on jeans and sweatshirts. Came out of the show and it had warmed up again. Mike really wanted to see Star Wars before it left the theater. It was okay. Great special effects. Upper 70s and really humid today.

Wed, Jan 27, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Rained pretty hard last night. I was ensconced in bed with my book and loved hearing the rain drops on the roof. Warm and humid today so far. Going over with my washboard for band practice at 1:00. Then the Wednesday night dinner, which tonight will be “breakfast for dinner”. We’re taking the fixings for mimosas and toasted blueberry bagels slathered with butter along with a container of cream cheese. Our neighbor, Larry, dropped off some snapper he just caught. Put it in the freezer for a future dinner. Upper 70s today.

Tue, Jan 26, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Met our Canadian friends over at the KOA cafĂ© for breakfast this morning. I walked over and Mike followed in the truck. We were told it would be a 45-minute wait for breakfast, so we headed to Mangrove Mama’s. Enjoyed a great breakfast. After breakfast we said our goodbyes and went on our separate ways. We took care of the laundry and grocery shopping. And they headed back to Homestead with a stop at Lazy Lakes to pick up a staircase Charlie made for his fifth wheel. We’ll miss them—they’re so much fun. It started out nice this morning, but by the time we’d finished our chores and I relaxed outside with my book, it started cooling off and threatening rain. Another cold front coming through I guess. 77 today with sun and clouds. No rain as of this writing.

Mon, Jan 25, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Really chilly during the night last night. Had an extra quilt on the bed even. Got up and turned the furnace on and it warmed up quickly. Mike went over and played shoes and I walked over and watched for a while. The Canadians played as well—except for Esther. She and Foxy watched. I’m not feeling so great. Thought maybe it was the wine I imbibed last night, but I think it’s whatever a bunch of people have had. Mike is just getting over it. Thought maybe I’d escaped, but guess not. Well, happy hour tonight at the KOA. Dinner after at Mangrove Mama’s. I’ll make happy hour. Not sure about dinner. Will play that one by ear. 70 today and sunny.

Sun, Jan 24, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A halfway decent day today. Walked around the lake and stopped to talk with Karen for a bit and then Maddie  showed up. Sat around talking with them for a while. Back to our site and picked up a couple of bags and walked Johnson Road and picked up trash. Back home and relaxed and before long the Canadians showed up. Walked over to the Sunday party with them and left Mike to put together our cooler, wine, sodas, etc. The LL Trailer Trash Band was setting up to play. Charlie actually got up to play and sing. Now we have a party. Played the washboard for a while. Drank a lot, laughed a lot and snacked a lot. It was really great seeing the four of them and they brought Foxy along too. They’re staying in a rental unit at the KOA. Here for a couple of days.

Sat, Jan 23, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Wind alert for today. And, it is really windy. Undaunted, we bundled up and headed for Big Pine and the flea market. Wanted to pick up some spices, but she wasn’t there today. A lot of the booths were empty. So, we went to Winn Dixie and picked up a fruit plate for tomorrow’s party at the clubhouse and went on a wine run. Stopped at Walgreens and then back home to stay ensconced in our nice warm fifth wheel. Later in the afternoon our neighbor, Larry, stopped over to deliver the paper and we invited him in. We shared a bottle of wine and blabbed with him for a while. Douglas called and wanted us to meet him at the KOA or Mangrove Mama’s. Told him I didn’t think so since Mike is trying to get over a cold. Howie is playing at the KOA, and I’d love to go over there, but I’d hate to leave Mike. Besides, it’s just too cold to walk over there. So, we’re staying in just watching TV. 60s and really W I N D Y today.

Long pants and layers. Cold, cold, cold.
