Mon, Jan 30, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Chilly this morning, but sunny at least. Yesterday it rained off and on all day. Mike did not go with us to the Living Room Series at the Little White House last night.  He really missed something special.  Larry and I went down together.  We parked right across the street from the Little White House.  There were appetizers set up in the dining room and we could sit in the room with the poker table.  We fixed ourselves a plate of appetizers, got a drink at the bar and took our seats at our designated table.  They call this the Living Room Concert Series, and all proceeds support the preservation of the Little White House.  Performing last night were Bobby Nesbitt and Carmen Rodriguez.  And they are fantastic together.  What makes it so special is the fact that they’re playing in Harry’s living room—and on Harry’s piano!  They perform the songs of that period interspersed with a historical narrative.  Just a really special evening.  Laundry today and maybe happy hour.  If Mike doesn’t feel like going I may go myself.  We’ll see.  Low 70s today.

Sun, Jan 29, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Dismal day today.  Rainy, windy, and chilly.  I’m actually watching “The Big Chill” on TV right now.  How apropos.  Love that movie—and especially the music.  Spent the day reading, noshing, and watching TV. Tonight we go to The Little White House for a musical event.  Doubt that Mike will go.  It’ll just be Larry and me.  Or, maybe just me.  Left-over pot roast for dinner tonight. It turned out really good.  Mid-60s today.

Sat, Jan 28, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Up early this morning.  Chilly.  After showering and dressing, I went out and put the awnings back out, since I put them in last night.  Set up a pot roast in the crock pot and then relaxed the rest of the day—reading, watching TV and taking care of stuff on the computer.  Mike still in pain.  We have tickets to see an event at the Little White House in Truman Annex tomorrow night.  Going with our neighbor, Larry.  Doubt that Mike will be in any shape to go.  Mid-70s today.

Fri, Jan 27, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  This morning when I got up Mike informed me we needed to go to urgent care or the ER.  Last night he bent over to pick something up, felt something pop and then was in considerable pain.  So, we left around 9:30 and drove to the ER.  They changed the bandage on his arm and took X-rays.  No broken rib, but a pulled muscle.  Picked up a prescription for oxycodone, an antibiotic cream and more large bandages.  Had some lunch and then back home and relaxed.  The pain meds don’t seem to be working.  Hopefully it will only last a couple of days.  A beautiful day though—low 80s and the water is flat.  No wind.

Some of the flats along our bike ride yesterday.

These yellow flowers were blooming everywhere along our path.

Thu, Jan 26, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  What a great day today!  Took the trash over to the dumpster and continued around the lake and ran into Debbie and Sandy.  Talked with them for a while and then continued on my walk.  Mike wanted to go for a bike ride, so after lunch we headed out.  Biked all the way to Summerland Key and back.  A beautiful day for a ride.  But at the end of the ride Mike was getting off his bike and fell and took a chunk out of his arm.  Luckily, nothing broken.  Back home and we cleaned up his wound and then I needed a cocktail.  Made a vodka and tonic and sat outside for a while.  Carolyn came over, and then shortly after Dale came over.  Put out some snacks and then Chuck stopped by and we brought out more wine.  Had a great gab fest and then everyone went their separate ways.  A great day.  Low 80s and a gentle breeze.

On this bike path we have the flats on one side and the mangroves on the other.

Went over the new Kemp Channel biking/walking/fishing bridge.

Wed, Jan 25, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Sleepless night last night.  Guess I nodded off around 4:30, but I slept until 10:30, so that’s not too bad.  Definitely cooler today.  Was inside most of the day.  Made reservations for a function at the Little White House on Sunday we’re attending with our neighbor, Larry.  Our dinner last night with Paul and Cindy was great.  We sat up on the upper deck alee of the wind.  Ellie Mae just lay at Paul’s feet the whole evening.  Dinner tonight at the clubhouse.  Chili is the theme.  I’m taking a red beans and rice concoction.  Peaceful, calm and cool today.  Mid-70s I think.

Ellie Mae and Braden came by for their treats today.

Tue, Jan 24, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  This morning dawned sunny and nice with no wind.  I got up pretty early, showered, dressed and went outside and cleaned up our site.  All kinds of stuff blew in yesterday.  Put the awnings back out and put the chairs back in place.  Had a bunch of visitors which is always fun.  After things quieted down we went grocery shopping.  Well, Mike went grocery shopping while I got my nails done.  Then we had lunch at our favorite deli and then back home and put everything away.  We’re supposed to have dinner at Kiki’s tonight with Paul, Cindy, and their dog Ellie Mae.  Should be fun. Walked over to the KOA yesterday afternoon for happy hour—in the howling wind.  Took some pictures along the way.  77 today and picture perfect.

On my walk over to the KOA yesterday I noticed this foamy stuff that forms whenever the winds pick up.  Then they blow around like little tumbleweeds.  Not sure what it is--foamy brine is what comes to mind.

Check out this beautiful tree!

And this intrepid little plant was growing right out of a rock at the KOA entrance.
