Sun, Feb 12, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Wine tasting at the clubhouse this afternoon at 3:30.  We tasted six different Bordeaux from France.  After the wine tasting we stumbled back to our site and Char came over and said everyone was meeting at the clubhouse for more wine.  Went back and chatted for a while and then decided to come back at 7:30 after everyone had eaten dinner to play marbles.  Back home and put steaks on the grill and cut up some potatoes and carrots coated with olive oil and put them in the oven.  After dinner we went back to the clubhouse and played marbles until 9:00 and then came back and watched “Victoria” on PBS.  Low 80s and breezy.

Sat, Feb 11, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Off to a concert this afternoon at the Fort East Martello featuring the lead singer from the Platters.  Also songs from The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Coasters, and the Drifters.  A fun afternoon.  We rode down with Dale and Carolyn.  Maddie also went with us.  After the concert we had dinner at Mangrove Mama’s.  Back home and crashed. A fun day.  Temps in the low 80s.

Fri, Feb 10, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Really windy today.  All night last night I listened to the wind soughing through the trees.  Made for great sleeping.  Put one of the awnings in last night and the second one this morning.  Then we decided to go to Key West and see the movie “Hidden Figures” at the Tropic about three black women who were instrumental in the NASA manned space programs.  One was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Obama when she was 97!  Great true story.  Got back home and were sitting outside enjoying a cocktail when Char and Ben came by and wanted to know if we wanted to play marbles tonight.  So, at 7:00 we’re heading over to the clubhouse.  A nice day, but really windy.  After the movie we wandered around Key West harbor for a while listening to the music and checking out a couple of yachts that are visiting.  There was also a cruise ship in port.  82 today, but with the wind it felt chilly.

Thu, Feb 9, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Taking a break today.  Watched our Netflix—the first three episodes of Season 5 of “Homeland.”  Walked around the lake and stopped at the office to put the Netflix in the mail.  Boondocks for dinner tonight.  Another beautiful day.  Low 80s.  Nice!

Wed, Feb 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Decided to go into Key West today to see the “Navy in Key West” exhibit at the Customs House Museum.  Started out with a sumptuous breakfast at Azur and then headed over to the Eco Center area where we usually park.  The only parking available now is at the Ingraham Coast Guard Cutter.  So we took a couple of pictures of a Navy transport vessel which is tied up at the Outer Mole Pier.  It has a civilian crew transporting humanitarian supplies to Central America. This huge ship is a water propelled catamaran.  Very unusual.  Decided to park over at the Westin garage instead and then walked around the water front for a while.  The Steve Jobs yacht had left already.  Wanted to see it.  One of the reasons we headed to Key West today was because there were no cruise ships in, so not a lot of people.  The Navy exhibit at the Customs House was very interesting, and I revisited the Hemingway section of the museum.  When we left there we ran into Paul and Cindy who were on a shopping mission.  Next to the Customs House is an old warehouse which was turned into a shopping area.  Even though this is a historic building, they took down this beautiful cast-iron stairway going to the second level and replaced it with an escalator.  How awful!  Drove back home and relaxed for a while.  The dinner tonight at the clubhouse is ribs.  Martin is providing them and cooking them.  Then his kids, who are part of an amazing band, are going to perform.  Hope I can hang in there.  Didn’t get much sleep last night.  Depends on the wine consumption.  84 today and gorgeous!

The architecture and building materials of the Customs House is so different from the rest of Key West.  All that red brick.  Just think of how many hurricanes it has survived.  A very sturdy building.

Tue, Feb 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Off to Big Pine to do the grocery shopping this morning.  After we got that accomplished we stopped at Kiki’s for some lunch.  Too busy and too windy, so we continued on and stopped at Boondocks.  Perfect!  Not crowded and alee of the wind.  I had a giant hot dog and Mike had a meatloaf burger.  Both really good.  Back home and put everything away.  Relaxed for a while and then walked around the lake.  82 today with a brisk wind.

The super yacht, Venus, is anchored off Sunset Key. To me it looks more like one of the new Navy battleships being built.  But it  has 14 cabins and a crew of 22 and is worth $120M.  It was built for Steve Jobs, but he died before it was finished.  It's now owned by his widow, who also owns a $75M jet.  Poor thing.

Mon, Feb 6, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  A great Super Bowl game last night.  But the wrong team one—in my opinion.  Nice this morning.  But on our way to the laundry room we noticed dark clouds scudding across the sky in our direction. Finished the laundry and then relaxed reading my book for a while.  Started pouring down rain late afternoon.  Mike had already put the awnings up and put the chairs away. Decided not to go to happy hour tonight.  Had salad and chili for dinner tonight.  Low 80s today.
