Sun, Nov 26, KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  Well, the wedding reception revelers partied on till the wee hours.  The band stopped at midnight.  Sounded like they were having quite a time.  500 people there.  The highlight of our day was a trip to Walmart.  We bought new walkie-talkies.  Our others went belly-up—of course when we had to back into the site we’re in here. Go figure.  I finished tome #2 of the Ken Follett “Century” trilogy and started tome #3.  Mike is now reading #2.  The family visitors of our neighbors are still here.  Three adult couples and five kids plus a dog.  They leave tomorrow morning.  Our neighbors are ready for some R&R. We found a football game on TV—our Rams!  Well, not ours anymore.  They went to LA (sigh).  Another nice day today.  Mid-70s.

Sat, Nov 25, KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  Took care of some banking this morning and updated my spreadsheet.  Took care of some other chores and in late afternoon we headed to a local restaurant, Parrot Island, for dinner.  Came back to the park and it is slammed.  Apparently, there’s a wedding reception going on over at the convention center.  I told Mike we ought to crash it.  He wasn’t so keen.  So, we just stayed in and watched TV.  How boring.  A nice day today.  Upper 70s.  Hopefully things will calm down in here after tomorrow when all the visitors go home.

Fri, Nov 24, KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  Off to the flea market this morning.  There are two big flea markets here.  We went to the one closest to us.  Not all the booths were open, but it was fun to walk around.  Drove around the town of Okeechobee to check things out.  I didn’t think there would be anything here.  But the town of Okeechobee is pretty big.  We also drove over to the lake and drove around it a little.  Upper 70s today, but felt a little chilly in the wind.  Left-over turkey for dinner.

Osprey over by the lake.

Thu, Nov 23, KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  A pretty nice day today.  We didn’t get rain until about 2:00.  We had a turkey breast and all the trimmings, along with apple and blueberry pies.  Ate too much of course.  Watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the dog show.  A peaceful, quiet day.  Nice!  80 today.

Wed, Nov 22, KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  Did the laundry this morning and after that we took care of the grocery shopping.  Thought both would be slammed, but we lucked out.  Sat outside in the shade reading for a while and then in the afternoon we went back to the Shanty for some cocktails.  Back home and watched TV.  More left-over goulash for dinner.  Supposed to rain tomorrow.  80 today.

Tue, Nov 21:  Lake Pan RV Park, Lake Pan, FL, to KOA, Okeechobee, FL:  Left at 9:00 this morning, hoping to beat the rain.  Took 470 East and got on Florida’s Turnpike.  Stopped at the first service center and Mike took over driving.  Ran into rain at Orlando and it just got worse and worse.  Turned into a deluge but it cleared off once we got to Okeechobee.  Arrived here at 12:30 and were set up by 1:30.  This is a big resort, with its own 9-hole golf course.  Sat outside and read for a while and then I went for a walk to check out The Shanty, their pub.  I got a cocktail and sat on the deck for a while.  Mike showed up a little while after.  They have a little lunch cafĂ© here with a pretty diverse menu.  Also checked out the laundry facility and then walked back to our site.  We are within walking distance to everything.  Nice.  Hopefully we’ll be warmer here at night and we can put the quilt away.  Upper 70s today.  Left-over goulash tonight.  HBM!

Mon, Nov 20:  Lake Pan RV Park, Lake Pan, FL:  A nice day today.  Took a drive into the little town of Lake Panasofkee—key word, little.  Really pretty though—heavily wooded with Spanish moss covering everything.  While I was fixing dinner Mike spotted a turtle mogging down the road in here.  We went over and moved him into the grass.  Made goulash for dinner—my version of it anyway.  Played rummy for a while.  We leave for Lake Okeechobee tomorrow.  Of course it’s supposed to rain (sigh).  Mid-70s today.
