Fri, Feb 5, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Had to run errands in Clewiston today.  I started walking and Mike picked me up just short of the office.  Only about a mile.  But it felt good.  The blue sky was devoid of clouds—only the contrails of a jet up in the ether.  I made an appointment with the Eye Centers of Florida.  They have an office in Clewiston which is convenient.  Picked up lunch on our way home.  Played rummy cube in the screen room after lunch.  I’m still ahead (yay!).  81 here today.

Thu, Feb 4, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  The coldest night of the year so far.  The sun is shining brightly, but I only went out once.  Too cool to sit out there and read.  And I didn’t walk again today either.  Tomorrow is another day.  Upper 60s here today.

Wed, Feb 3, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  The only time I went out today was when I took the trash out at 5:00 this morning.  I should have gone for a walk this afternoon but my back was killing me.  A nice day, except for that chilly breeze.  Only 61 again today.  And it’s going down into the 30s again tonight.

The very eerie German cemetery.

We had lunch here.

Tue, Feb 2, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Cool and windy today.  The driveway guys showed up around 9:30 and were finished by 3:30.  They had to wait an hour and a half for the stone to show up.  It came out really really good.  Grilled chicken and my bean and vegetable salad tonight for dinner.  61 was the high today.  Supposed to get down into the 30s tonight.

Our new driveway.

Mon, Feb 1, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Made our weekly trip to LaBelle to pick up groceries.  On the way back we stopped at Beef O’Brady’s to pick up two orders of chip and dip—one for lunch today and the other for the Superbowl on Sunday.  We watched a movie on DISH Pay Per View.  “The World News” with Tom Hanks.  It cost $22.00, but if we’d seen it at the movies it would have cost over $30.00.  And it was a great movie about a Civil War Vet (Tom Hanks) who travels the west reading the news for ten cents per person.  He encounters a young girl who was captured by the Kiowa as a toddler. After her Kiowa family was also killed she was an orphan and he took her to find an aunt and uncle who might take her in.  The wind today is terrible.  Our poor screen room is taking a beating.  Tonight it’s supposed to go down into the 40s.  The next few days only in the 60s.  Our driveway gets put in tomorrow.

Sun, Jan 31, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Tomorrow is Feb 1st already.  Time has gone by quickly—even though we’ve been sort of shut in most of the time.  Today is the last beautiful day for a while.  All the Harley riders took off for their last ride for a while.  Surprisingly, Mark and Deb, our neighbors across the street didn’t go.  They always go.  For the first time today I felt like everyone else is having fun, not worrying about covid, not taking precautions, and we’re pretty much staying away from just about everyone.  I’ll get over it.  At least we’re not sick.  We headed to Clewiston to pick up some scripts and picked up some lunch from Beef O-Brady’s.  Mike got wings and I got a prime rib sandwich au jus.  Delicious!  The place was packed and not a mask in sight.  I don’t get it.  Especially with that more contagious strain going around.  I bought us a couple of really good masks.  When we wear the cotton ones we now double up.  After lunch I sat outside reading for a while and Mike watched a basketball game.  The birds in the palm tree were chattering like crazy.  Now you can’t hear a thing.  Maybe they know the front is about to come through.  We’ll have to put the awning away because it’s supposed to get quite windy for the next couple of days.  80 in here today and beautiful.

Do you think it gets windy here?

Tue, Jan 26, 2021:  The Glades RV Park:  Another beautiful day today.  We didn’t do much.  Called the guy doing our driveway to see when he’ll be here.  Guess he hurt his back.  Not sure when he’ll be able to do it.  Put the makings for vegetable beef soup in the crock pot for dinner tonight.  Playing spades shortly with Nomad.  86 here today.

Monument Valley

Stayed at the Gouldings RV Park.  They used to film a lot of John Wayne westerns here.  The cast and crew stayed at Gouldings.  A lot of history here.
