Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Dragged myself out of bed at 9:00 this morning.  Felt like I could have slept and slept.  Changed the sheets and got the laundry ready.  Decided to do the laundry and grocery shopping today instead of tomorrow.  Mike has a dentist appointment at 9:30 tomorrow and I didn’t really feel energetic enough to do it myself.  Got it all done and went back and put everything away.  Sat outside reading for a while.  Really warm—80.  Wish I had more energy.  At the last minute this afternoon we decided to go see the movie “127 hours” in Key West.  This was the movie about the guy that was hiking Blue John Canyon—a slot canyon in Canyonlands NP—and dislodged a boulder and fell, the boulder pinning his right arm.  He ended up cutting his arm off to save his life.  The movie portrayed him as an irresponsible 20-something male—which he definitely was and paid the price.  This area is a rugged wasteland of intricate canyons, sheer drops, and little water—and you’d better know where you’re going and what you’re doing.  A beautiful day today in the low 80s.  We’ve been watching the Weather Channel and the huge storm that’s hitting the central US.  And we’re enjoying 80 degree temps.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  A really different Monday for us.  No donut run for Mike this morning.  He got a call from the dentist in Big Pine and was able to get an appointment for 12:30.  So, no shoes for him either.  I did some cleaning and then Mike left for his appointment and I took a nap.  Woke up and the beautiful, sunny morning had turned into a cloudy, nasty-looking day.  Still warm though.  I was getting worried about Mike since I hadn’t heard from him by 4:00.  He had stopped to pick up a pizza which took longer than he thought.  We went over to the happy hour at the KOA.  It was good to be out and about.

It's a miracle!  Mike's hair has grown back!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Feeling better this morning.  Munch was sauntering down the road this morning—on the loose, so I helped catch him—luring him in with a treat.  My cough came back so I had to take more cough medicine.  Made me sleepy so I laid down and watched movies most of the day.  We watched our Netflix movie, "Knight and Day" with Tom Cruise and Carmen Diaz which was really cute.

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Well, I’m not feeling well enough to be out and about yet and Mike can’t go out.  He broke his partial (again) while eating ribs.  I think this is the fourth or fifth time.  I was still feeling wasted this morning.  So after cleaning up and making the bed I laid around on top of the covers most of the day.  And Mike played on the computer all day.  He called around and got an appointment with a dentist for Monday or Tuesday.

Les Miserables

Thursday, January 27, 2011:    Les Miserables is the only way to describe the past couple of weeks.  Mike was feeling bad first.  His went away.  Mine didn't  After a week or so with a low grade fever which started going up, I decided to go to an Urgent Care facility in Key West to see what they had to say.  Tested negative for the flu.  They told me I was lucky there because I would have been quarantined for five days.  What did that mean?  Would I have been locked up somewhere?  Hopefully a five-star resort?  Or would they just have told me to go home and stay there.  Sounded like the former.  At any rate, it wasn't the flu.  They didn't think it was pneumonia either  My fevered mind was running rampant at this point.  I was imagining all kinds of scenarios of being led away in cuffs to some rat and snake infested obscure key somewhere.   After I snapped back to reality, someone prescribed an antibiotic and a kick-azz cough medicine which seems to be working.  All I want to do now is sleep.  Oh, and a little Canadian Angel stopped by a couple of days ago with fresh baked banana bread.  Thanks, Johanne!

The Lazy Lakes Trailer Trash Band will be playing tonight

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Another warm and sultry day on tap here in the beautiful Keys.  They tell me it poured down rain last night, but I didn’t hear a thing.  This brings me to the dinner at the clubhouse last night.  After dinner the Lazy Lakes Trailer Trash Band performed, led by our intrepid Canadian, Charlie, and our talented banjo and guitar player, Jerry.  People took turns playing the washtub base and the washboard and Sandy accompanied on the harmonica.  Gotta go on a wine run today as the fun continues tonight with karaoke.  Ooooh, yeah!   After the wine run to Big Pine we had a quick lunch at the Sugarloaf Bakery on Summerland Key.  Clouded up and started sprinkling.  But still really warm.  Another beautiful day here in the Keys where every night is a Saturday night and every day’s a perfect 10!

Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:   Didn’t do much of anything today.  It started out foggy and nasty looking, but cleared off nicely.  I got little to no sleep last night, so I figured a nap was in order today.  Made a salad for our dinner at the clubhouse tonight.  Sat outside reading for a while.  Mike stayed in just about all day. Upper 70s today.
