St. Louis to London

Sun, Aug 16 to Mon, Aug 17:  St. Louis to London:  Left St. Louis at 2:10 on American going to Dallas/Ft. Worth.  Had a bite to eat and then boarded British Airways jumbo jet service to London.  First Class on this airline is amazing.  We each had our own little pod with a reclining seat.  After dinner the flight attendant made up our bed.  We were given pajamas to wear and little socks for our feet.  They also gave us each a little toiletry kit.  It was a pretty good flight until we started over the Atlantic and it got really rough—especially for an aircraft of this size.  But we made it here okay.  The cab ride from Heathrow was 90 pounds with a tip.  That equates to about $135.  Yikes!  By the way, Heathrow is very impressive.  It’s immaculate and really well organized.   Our hotel is nice—right in the heart of the city.  We’re both really tired.  Think we’ll go out for a little walk, get a bite to eat and CRASH.

St. Louis:  Well, we have our deck back--and our family room.  It's great to be able to sit out on the deck and read my book.  Weather has been great.

Can you say hot?

St. Louis, MO:  The last few days have been hot, hot, hot!  The other day we decided to go to a movie, since it was too hot to do anything outside.  Upon exiting the uber cool theater, we're slammed by 100+ degree heat.  Kept our fingers crossed that we wouldn't encounter an accident or any other hold-up on the way home.  There are still some things that need to be finished up here--like the deck, and a few things on the inside.  Probably next week.

We now have carpeting.

Hot, hot, hot!

St. Louis, MO:  Even though some mornings we are awakened by carpenters, painters, etc., at our front door, it is good to be home. Things are moving along. The deck is just about finished. And they did a beautiful job. Just can't wait to get that done and the deck furniture back so I can enjoy it before the summer ends.

They replaced all the rough-hewn cedar siding. It is so pretty and smells so good.  Too bad it has to be painted.

Deck is coming along. Hopefully, the dumpster will be removed soon.

All we need now are steps.

Day 116

Home!  It has been 116 days since returning from Florida. And we're finally back home! I came back last night because of threatening weather, and Mike came back today. Our family room is still not finished--but close--and they haven't even started on the deck yet. But at least we're home.

We've got windows and we've got walls!

Day 112

Sundermeier RV Park, St. Charles, MO:  It's been 112 days now since we've been home. And now the RV park we're in has started to flood. What next?!

Day 109

Sundermeier RV Park, St. Charles, MO:  It has now been 109 days since we arrived home and we're finally seeing some progress. We stopped over there yesterday late afternoon, and the room has now been dry-walled, and the windows are all installed! We thought it would be at least two more weeks before we had windows. And, the painting is complete in the living/dining room upstairs. No word yet on the temporary occupancy. But we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.
