Mon, Dec 21, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Still really windy today. Chuck came over and planted all the plants in our planter boxes. Looks really good. Chuck is an agronomist, so he knows his stuff. After he finished we headed to Big Pine and I stopped and had Chuck’s friend, Douglas, cut my hair. He did a superb job. Chuck and Doug invited us over for New Year’s Eve before we all head to the KOA and the band, Haywire. Off to the KOA for happy hour tonight. Then to Bistro 31 for dinner. There will be 8 of us. Should be fun. Upper 70s today and W I N D Y.

Sun, Dec 20, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Yesterday, Chuck dropped off a bunch of plants for our planter. He was supposed to plant them today, but he didn’t show up. A windy, nasty day, so maybe he decided to do it tomorrow. Didn’t do much today. Robin stopped over with Mutley and we gave him his treats and talked with her for a while. Watched some episodes of “House of Cards” on Netflix. Great series. Mike grilled up some chicken yesterday. So, we’ll have left-over chicken for dinner tonight. Upper 70s today and really windy and cloudy.

Fri, Dec 18, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Warm, humid, and not a breath of air this morning. Early afternoon we headed to Key West. Had lunch at Two Cents and then went to see the movie, “Trumbo”. An excellent movie about the blacklist of several screen writers and others because of the taint of Communism. Not a great period in our history. Came back and sat outside for a while enjoying the balmy breezes. We put our awnings in because it was getting a little blustery. Mid-80s today. Nice.

Wed, Dec 16, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another exceptionally nice day today. Went to the Galley Grill on Summerland Key for breakfast this morning. I had eggs benedict and Mike had a full breakfast with bacon, eggs, and potatoes. Really good. On the way back we stopped at the hardware store to pick up a timer for the lights on our palm tree. Sat outside reading for a while, and at 1:00 I went over for Lazy Lakes Trailer Trash band practice. That’s always fun. I think we’d sound better with a couple of drinks beforehand. Mid-80s today.

Tue, Dec 15, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, warm and sultry day. Got the laundry and grocery shopping out of the way and stopped at the Stoned Crab for lunch. Mike got a shrimp wrap and I ordered this salad with shrimp and a crab claw. They served our food and my salad had four shrimp on top—complete with their heads, little antenna, and their little legs. Oh man, I said. I can’t eat that with their heads on. Oh, she said, they leave their heads on because there is an oil sack in its head that makes them more flavorful. OMG, I said. That’s even worse. So, they took them back and lopped their heads, legs, and antenna off and brought it back. Kind of ruined my appetite. Won’t be ordering that again. We stopped on the way home at a landscape store to check out some plants. We have a rather large planter in our site. It runs the whole length of our site and we want to plant something in there. I want something that is maintenance-free. They recommended a grass that have these little red flowers. I think it’s called fire cracker or something. Anyway, there’s a guy here who will plant them for us. 85 today and beautiful.

Mon, Dec 14, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  A beautiful, warm, and sultry day today. After my smoothie I walked around the lake and Mike met me at the office. Picked up our mail and helped Jerry and Char with some huge packages they were picking up. After lunch we put some little white lights on the palm tree in our site. Now I’m all sweaty and need another shower. Put everything away, cleaned up the site and got ready for happy hour tonight at the KOA. Probably low to mid-80s today.

Sun, Dec 13, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  So much for our run of good weather. It rained off and on all day today. One time it really stormed with lots of wind. We put our awnings in and hunkered down inside. Pork chops for dinner tonight, along with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. Sounds pretty good. Mid-70s today.
