Tue, Dec 13, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Happy hour was fun last night, except the no-seeums were brutal.  I walked over again and Mike came over in the truck.  So, after walking over I was a hot sweaty mess.  Only had one drink because I was really hungry.  Six of us went to Fish for dinner and had a great meal. On the way back to Lazy Lakes we saw a Key Deer just as we turned onto Johnson Road.  And yesterday some friends walking around the lake saw a Key Deer buck.  So they’re here in Sugarloaf also.  It was such a nice balmy evening, we sat out for a while sharing some wine with Jerry and Char.  Sally joined us with Baby.  Today we headed to Key West and Mike got his root canal.  Only one visit.  Any root canal I had back in the day was always two visits.  Technology is better now I guess.  Anyway, at least he won’t have that tooth bothering him.  Now he has to make an appointment with Dr. Troxel to get a crown on that tooth.  82 today and no wind.

Navy fliers are in town practicing carrier take-offs and landings. The carrier George Washington is out in the Florida Straits where they practice.  This one was landing at Boca Chica NAS. They fly these little trainers.

Mon, Dec 12, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Took care of the laundry this morning and right after that it started pouring.  Weren’t expecting this at all.  Chairs and everything outside now wet.  The endodontist called and had a cancellation tomorrow afternoon.  So, now Mike can get his root canal taken care of right away instead of waiting until the middle of January.  We had a great dinner last night at Douglas’s.  We had roast chicken, potatoes au gratin, and sugar snap peas.  Fruit of the forest pie for dessert.  Played jokers after dinner.  Their place is great—right on a canal.  Happy hour tonight and then dinner somewhere after.

Pretty outdoor space.

Sun, Dec 11, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Well, we got some rain last night, but no stormy weather to speak of.  I slept late again this morning.  Felt good though.  Started out cloudy but cleared off nicely.  On the cool side however.  Douglas called and wanted us to meet he and Chuck in Marathon for happy hour at the Keys Lobster and Steak House.  I said it sounded good, but needed to check with Mike who was in the shower at the time.  Then he called back and said to forget Marathon and just come over for dinner at their place.  So, we’re headed over there at 5:00 for dinner with them.  Looking forward to it since we didn’t go over there for Thanksgiving.  He’s such a great cook, it should be great.  We’ll take some wine and we picked up a pie for dessert.  I think it made it to 79 today.

Sat, Dec 10, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Slept late this morning.  I didn’t get up until 9:30!  Had trouble sleeping last night.  We were trying to decide whether or not to go to the lighted boat parade in Key West tonight, but according to this morning’s paper it’s been postponed due to the inclement weather coming in tonight.  So, that takes care of that.  It’ll be held on Wednesday.  Put the awnings in last night because of the wind and they’re still in.  Stormy weather is lurking out there somewhere.  Walked around the lake and picked up our packages and mail.  A definite chill in the air this morning, but the humidity has really increased.  Harbinger of the deluge to come I guess.  75 today and breezy.

The other night at Kiki's.  Restaurants are so dog friendly down here.  These guys boated in.
On our way to Garbo's Cafe.  Love the Bougainvillea!

Fri, Dec 9, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Windy and cool this morning.  Made a run into Key West and then just hunkered down inside all day.  Watched a couple of movies and took care of some stuff on the computer.  Pasta for dinner tonight.

Mike spotted this guy leisurely swimming across the lake today.  I've only seen them in the lake in escape mode.  This was like a pleasure swim or something.

Thu, Dec 8, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  I was up early again this morning.  Had already showered, dressed and eaten breakfast before Mike got up.  It’s usually the other way around.  Larry was up before me and already working on painting the framework of his RV.  Had to crawl way under there.  Said he scared up a scorpion.  Didn’t know they were around down here.  Suzette stopped by with Sampson who got his treats and then I was off to Key West to get my nails done and then back to Big Pine to get my hair cut.  Got all that accomplished and was back home by 1:00.  After lunch I tried to take a nap because I couldn’t sleep last night.  All that did was to make me feel worse than ever.  Off for an early dinner at Kiki’s.  Another beautiful, warm, sultry day.  82 here today.

This beautiful home was once home to the Commandant of the hospital facility in Truman Annex.  It's now a private residence.

Wed, Dec 7, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf, FL:  Another warm and sultry day today.  Not a breath of air.  The lake is like glass.  I got up, showered, dressed, and went out and got the paper.  Perused it and took it over to Larry.  When Mike got up he wasn’t feeling great.  Has a tooth bothering him.  So, we called our dentist here, but he couldn’t see him until next week.  They suggested Island Dental which we called and got an appointment for 12:45.  He needs a root canal.  Prescribed an antibiotic and told him to call an endodontist which he recommended.  Can’t get in to see him until January 17 since he’s only here one day a week—on Tuesday.  Hopefully he’ll be okay until then.  After we left Island Dental we headed to Big Pine to get the prescription filled.  Working our way up the Keys, the water on both the Bay side and Ocean side was like glass.  Had some lunch at the Galley Grill and then headed home.  Tried to sit outside for a while and read my book, but the no-seeums drove me inside.  85 today and sultry. Love it!

Our lake is like a big mirror.
