Tue, Dec 29, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Tuesdays are not fun. We have to do the laundry and grocery shopping. But, after we get that out of the way we treat ourselves to a nice lunch somewhere. We tried a new place today—Key West Creperie. Turns out it was really good. Came back and put everything away. Sat outside reading for a while. Dale and Carolyn showed up around 5:00. We invited them over for a glass or two of wine. We went through two bottles! Great to see them. Now just about everyone is back. Karen and Jim should be here soon. 85 today and the waters around here are beautiful shades of green and blue. Nice.

Mon, Dec 28, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Another beautiful, warm day today. I got the cleaning out of the way and got the keyboard out and played around with it for a while. After lunch I dragged my chair out into the sun and read my book for a while. Windy again today. Feels great when you’re out in the sun—not so great when in the shade. Off to the KOA tonight for happy hour. 85 and sunny today.

An iguana soaking up the sun in our site.

Sun, Dec 27, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Stumbled out of bed this morning and Robin and Mutley were here. Mike was outside talking with them. I quickly made the bed, put on a pair of shorts and joined them. Gave Mutley his treat. He was cold and wet since he’d jumped into the lake after an iguana. He never gets close to them, but he loves to chase them. Ended up going to the KOA last night for a little while. It was packed. As we left, there were 4 RVs lined up waiting to get into their site. There’s a Prevost (probably around $2M) motor home in there. It has four huge palm trees on its site. They had them professionally decorated. Even the palm fronds have lights on them. They look so pretty swaying in the breeze. And there’s this new thing out. I call it a disco ball. It projects lights all over. Looks like the trees, camper, mangroves, everything have lights on them. I want to get one for next year. Our neighbor, Larry, will just love us. We’re going over to the clubhouse later for a rib fest. One of the guys who stays here cooks them up every year. More food and wine again tonight. OMG! Mike can’t wait. And I guess Moose is playing—whoever that is. 85 and windy again.

Sunset from the Lazy Lakes clubhouse.

Sat, Dec 26, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  After breakfast this morning we headed to the flea market. I lucked out, because the spice lady was there. Stocked up and walked around for a while. Really windy again today. But really warm also. Picked up some more wine, which was a good thing because Chuck and Douglas stopped by and at least we had some wine to offer them. Douglas was three sheets, but that’s okay. Howard is at the KOA tonight. Guess a bunch from Lazy Lakes are going to a bar and grill on Little Torch Key where some guy by the name of Moose is playing there. Think we’d rather go see Howard—for a while anyway. Douglas wants to join us. Told him we’d meet him there around 7:30. We’ll see. 85 today with lots of wind.

Love all the tropical foliage down here.

Fri, Dec 25, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Pretty quiet the last few days. On Wednesday I went over and practiced with “the band”. After the alcohol break things went downhill. Actually, I think we started sounding better. Thursday we talked about going to Key West to see a movie, but we thought better of it since it’s Christmas Eve. Walked around the lake and ran into Craig, our former neighbor. He wants to play spades after the Christmas dinner today. Sounds good to us. We’re going down at 1:00 to help with the set-up. Then I have to come back and put together my corn casserole to take. Cocktails at 3:00 and dinner at 4:00. They’re cooking up 3 hams. Should be fun. Weather is iffy so far. Really windy AGAIN. Hopefully it’ll be better by dinner time. Merry Christmas!

Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of wine.

Tue, Dec 22, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Our usual Tuesday. Laundry, grocery shopping, and lunch at the Stoned Crab. Really warm and humid. After coming back and putting everything away, we sat outside reading for a while. Watered our new flowers. Haven’t killed them yet.  83 today.

Key West all decorated up for the holidays.

Mon, Dec 21, Lazy Lakes RV Park, Sugarloaf Key, FL:  Still really windy today. Chuck came over and planted all the plants in our planter boxes. Looks really good. Chuck is an agronomist, so he knows his stuff. After he finished we headed to Big Pine and I stopped and had Chuck’s friend, Douglas, cut my hair. He did a superb job. Chuck and Doug invited us over for New Year’s Eve before we all head to the KOA and the band, Haywire. Off to the KOA for happy hour tonight. Then to Bistro 31 for dinner. There will be 8 of us. Should be fun. Upper 70s today and W I N D Y.

Desert Rose and some kind of succulent ground cover.

He put in a lot of succulents.
